TxWARN P25 is digital, and unfortunately, your Pro-93 scanner is not. It's analog only.

The scanner models that would work on the system are:
Make Model Type
GRE PSR-500 Handheld
GRE PSR-600 Base/Mobile
GRE PSR-800 Handheld
Radio Shack PRO-18 Handheld
Radio Shack PRO-106 Handheld
Radio Shack PRO-197 Base/Mobile
Uniden BCD396T Handheld
Uniden BCD396XT Handheld
Uniden BCD996T Base/Mobile
Uniden BCD996XT Base/Mobile
Uniden HomePatrol-1 Base/Mobile

The PSR-800 & Uniden Home Patrol-1 both have the RadioReference database loaded on a micro-SD card. While the programming method is different, basically you define your location for either scanner, as well as the types of channels or talkgroups you want to monitor (such as Police or Fire Dispatch, 'Talk' channels. whatever), and the scanner will load those, based on the database that are within range. With either scanner, you can add channels using the software that comes with them. With the HP-1, and the Extreme Upgrade, you can add those from it's keypad, or the pc. The Radio Shack Pro-18 is essentially the same as the PSR-800 (it's made for them by GRE), but it has a lot fewer features than the 800, though the cost is about the same.

For the Uniden scanners, the newer models, BCD396XT & BCD996XT would be preferable to the older BCD396T & BCD996T, though those would still work. The XT models have more memory capacity, both in total channels, bit also channels per system, as well as other improvements. For the 396T versus the 396XT, the XT has multi-site capability, whereas the 396T does not. You can work around that on the 396T, by putting each transmit site in a separate system, but multi-site is a better feature. Both versions of the 996 have multi-site.

More information on individual scanners can be found in the Wiki:

thanks

thanks steve, that was very helpful and informative.. i guess that its time to go ahead and spend the money for an upgrade.. my firedepartmaent and all the surrounding depts in the area are about to move to the same system that the sherrifs office uses to dispatch the deputies i do believe and we will all have to get new radios, pricey but hopefully it happens.. i still need to get a new scanner for my personal use.. thanks again

Sorry to see Old Primary get phased out since that was one of the first freqs I listened to as a kid, but it'll probably stay up for tone-out and dispatch.

I know y'all don't use radios much for interior firefighting out that way, but don't look for any huge improvements with the "700 system" in that regard.
