This morning I received a news blurb about a home invasion with one person, deceased at the scene in Brookhaven Mississippi Lincoln county tuned into the scanner app to listen to the activity going on after the fact and to listen for the search for the suspect there were 68 people on the scanner app, listening at the time when all of a sudden the feed went off-line has this happened to anyone listening to this particular feed in Mississippi or any other feed? I’m just trying to find out why broadcast why put up a broadcast and have it go off-line after an event starts and their searching for the suspect , why even bothered to have a feed up in the first place it seems counterproductive to me. Does this happen a lot on Broadcastify and other scanner apps I’m just wondering and scratching my head so now the feed is off-line and we can’t find out what’s going on after the home invasion , can someone please shine some light on that for me thank you

Feeds are provided at the will of the feed provider, they are also removed or turned off by the feeder at their will. There is no guarantee that a feed will be up/down at any time.

As for why it went down, there may have been computer or internet issues, or the feeder may have felt (real or imagined) the traffic was putting public safety at risk and shut it down. If you want to ensure you will hear the traffic it is suggested you get a scanner, because feeds are not guaranteed.

So many threads created here asking why a feed went down. Usually I suggest clicking the link to contact the broadcaster for an explanation but the provider of feed in question seems to have disabled that ability. If I were to wager a guess I'd say it was voluntarily taken offline as to the sensitive nature of the incident but I'm not the provider nor a listener so all I can do is speculate

If the feed provider voluntarily took the feed offline during the search then he absolutely did the right thing. Kudos to him.
