When exchanging the current information between computer software Sentinel and the SDS 200 scanner, I have not found a clear instruction. Specifically, if I have several Favorites Lists in my Sentinel software and have subsequently added several Favorites Lists with only the scanner (for example, using the Discovery feature in the scanner), how can I combine the changes made only on the scanner with changes I make on the software? i would think I would need to download the scanner content to the computer software first, before making any changes to the software by using the software. Will this put in the Sentinel software exactly what I have in the scanner, including the additions made with the scanner controls? I would think I would then, in this order, make further changes I want to make with software. Hopefully, this combines the changes I made with hardware and software. I then would check both boxes in the Sentinel software which, I understand, erases everything in the scanner and then adds to the scanner everything in the computer. Is there an easier way to accomplish this result by checking only the lower box in the software so the scanner content is not erased before the computer software content is transferred to the scanner?
If you connect your scanner to your PC, then 'read' it into Sentinel, Sentinel will then have the same lists conditions as what is also in the scanner. This would include any new lists created only on the scanner, whether via a Discovery session or other means, and also any changes to the lists (already in Sentinel) if you had edited them on the scanner, such as adding channels, departments, or sites, or if you had set a system (or channel) to Avoid via the scanner's keypad. When reading the scanner into Sentinel, if the list in Sentinel is different than it is currently on the scanner, you'll get a prompt asking if you want to overwrite what is in Sentinel (so that it matches the scanner), skip uploading any changes, or upload to the new scanner, but use a different name for the list with differences.
When downloading from Sentinel to the scanner, you have the option of erasing all the lists in the scanner before loading from Sentinel. Or, if a list being downloaded from Sentinel to the scanner differs from that list already in the scanner, you'll get a prompt asking if you want to overwrite the list (already in the scanner) with the current, edited, version being sent from Sentinel. Here again, you can download the changed list, copy the list to the scanner but with a new name (leaving two copies of the same list on the scanner, different names, with slight differences between them), or skip downloading the list.
You can, of course, choose to erase all lists in the scanner before downloading from Sentinel, but that is an option, not a requirement. And you can download one or more lists to the scanner, leaving them set as download, but not selected to be scanned by default. You can use the Set Scan Selection in the scanner's menu to juggle which lists are being monitored at any one time, and which are available on the scanner, just not being scanned at the time.
