It's hard to say what the firm answer is and where the current talkgroup data came from. I too have seen LBPD 1 on TG 152 and LBPD 2 on TG 153 in the clear. It's a console patch from the UHF channels to the 700 system. Might just be some testing for now. Lot's of things happening on this system from the old single site on Signal Hill to 3 or 4 additional simulcast sites around the city. Site number has switched to #2 and the introduction of Phase 2 traffic is now seen.

That's a possibility. I'm only confirming what I have heard so far.

Again, that's unknown. I don't have a connection to the system so we will just have to see how it plays out. Having both encrypted and unencrypted talkgroups is a waste of resources from my perspective. I wouldn't do that on my trunked system. Either it's encrypted or it's not. A lot of this is being driven by the Department of Justice as they want PII secure and not disseminated to the general public. It's on a need to know basis.

Give it time and we'll see what happens. There's still a lot of work to be done on the Long Beach 700 trunked system but from a back end perspective, things are definitely moving.
