Anyone happen to know if there are any radio shops around Jefferson/St. Clair/Shelby counties that will cut and crimp supplied connectors to some cable I purchased?

Here's a trick you might want to try.
Some counties have their own radio shops. My county does. They do enough business for their own operations that it actually makes sense.

The guys that work there got their start with CB's and scanners, just like most of us. Many are amateur radio operators as well. It's often worth a shot to find a local county shop and drop by. Maybe bring a jug of coffee, a dozen donuts or if it's on a Friday, a cold six pack. Make friends with the guys but be up front about what you are looking for. They'll have the tools, and if you supply the cable and connectors, it only takes a few minutes to do the actual connection.

Might be a good way to make some friends and learn a few tricks along the way.

I've done this a few times in my shop. I remember what it was like to be starting off in the hobby and how hard it was to do the simple things. Taking a few minutes out of my day to help out a hobbyist was always a welcome break.

Good luck.

Yeah my FD uses AllComm Wireless for most of their communication stuff as far as I know. With them being mostly a reseller of Motorola gear I wonder if they do any type of cable/connector work?!?!?!

If they do any kind of install work, they'll have the right tools. It's a must in the industry. I only do it on occasion, and I have the full set of crimpers, strippers, prep tools, etc for a number of different cable types.

........

Just looked up their website. Looks like they do maintenance, installs, etc. so they'll have the stuff. If it's a big shop, they'll likely charge you for it, but it won't be much, especially if you provide the cable and connectors for them.

This is a simple DIY job. You can purchase the cutter/crimp tool for about $20.00 and do the job yourself. Most shops will charge you a minimum hourly rate for their labor.
