As long as the inbuilt tuner will tune into it, a coat hanger will do.

Mind you, if the man catches you transmitting into the coat hanger at some frequency to which you are not licensed, then expect a knock on the door sooner or later.

But if you just want to receive - then a random bit of clothesline stretched out as far as you can get it will be fine.

Just don't press the the PTT when connected to your little 5Amp power supply:)

Well blowing the power supply would not be a problem since I'm hooked up to a 24V 35A power supply, when I got the system I got the hole thing even the tuner

What is a SEA330? It sounds like a commercial HF transceiver? best regards...Mike

That's the puppy, but I also got the SEAWATCH and SEACALL witch is the MF/HF DSC Controller, not going to have to use it (unless my house starts to sink lol) but it looks cool set up, I live in between lake eire and lake ontario and we get salty's come by here a lot and apparently some of the ships still use HF to contact there head offices, and if not I should be able to find something to listen to between 490Khz and 30Mhz

I disagree with most of the salties still using HF frequently to contact their home offices -- it's just too easy to do via satellite voice/data service these days.

But yeah, there's still a heck of a lot of stuff, maritime related & not, to hear on HF. When the freighters do use HF, it's usually record-mode service using a vendor such as this: ShipCom LLC :: Marine HF Radiotelephone and HF Single SideBand Email
