By Longwood Fire Company January 20, 2011 At 0640hrs the Company was alerted for a MVC with one trapped on Pocopson Rd south of Rt. 926. Assistant 25 (McCarthy) arrived and reported a panel van resting on the driver side with one trapped.
Rescue Squad 25 (Cressman) arrived and stabilized the vehicle with Para-tech rescue struts. Capt. 25 (Cressman) was appointed as the Rescue Group. The crews from Rescue 25 and E-25-2 removed a large ladder rack to make access to the roof. Once access was made the crews removed the windshield and began to flap the roof backwards toward the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was resting against a small hill which combined with the snow and ice made for a difficult procedure.
The rescue crews extricated the patient at 0715hrs and Micu 25-1 transported to Chester County Hospital.
25 units returned available at 0802hrs.
