So In December last year I sent in my SDS 100 for repair (wasn't receiving too well) this would end up being the infamous "cold solder joint" issue. Sent it off to Uniden along with a copy of proof of purchase. I emailed Uniden shortly after the unit had arrived in Texas explaining that I had just recently moved and once the repair work was complete, I would like them to send it to the new address. I received an email shortly thereafter saying that the address was changed (it was even updated with my new postal code when I went to check the status of the repair on Uniden's website).

Shipped out back to me on the 17th of January. It had been a couple weeks, so I decided to give Uniden a call yesterday 01/29 to see where it was (since I was never provided with any sort of tracking number). The rep on the phone told me it was delivered on January 24th at 3:32PM to my new address. Well I never received anything at my door!! (someone in my householdwould of said something). So I was able to get the tracking number from Uniden and after a call with FedEx, it looks like my package was delivered to my old address. (FedEx was able to confirm this with a GPS trace on the truck). Went by yesterday afternoon to check on the doorstep and well, to my misfortune there was nothing!

After a bunch of back and forth phone calls with both FedEx and Uniden, Uniden emailed my a their "Affidavit of Non-Receipt" filled that out this afternoon and emailed that in right away. Part of me feels that I should of waited till I moved before sending the scanner in. All in all, I think I did this to myself. It's going to take a few days to find out what happened. Hopefully Uniden will understand and send me a replacement.

Any other advice would be must appreciated.

Sorry for the long post.

I am sorry this happened to you. Sounds like you did everything you could for it to make it to the new address and Uniden confirmed this. This is clearly Unidens fault hopefully they will give you a new one.

I deal with non-deliveries more and more nowadays.

I had a situation where Dell requires a signature, but FedEx driver was too $#@! lazy to go to my front door.
Driver FORGED my signature and left a multipleK computer out where anyone could see/steal it - (big DELL on the side of box)..
When I went to file a claim, Dell says it was delivered. - FedEx says it was delivered.

But... when I filed a police report and in it, I stated that I was willing to testify that my signature was forged, boy did I get a replacement fast.

That's pretty serious that a FedEx driver would do something like that. Certainly is criminal.

Looks like FedEx is going to try to work with Uniden to get me the credit of the scanner(since uniden declared the value when they shipped it).

I just really hope they could send me a full replacement in a retail box since I sent them the battery, belt clip, SD card, and antenna. And of course, now I've lost all my upgrade keys which I'm going to have to pay for again since they are flashed onto that radio.

Contact Uniden and/or member Unidensupport here on the forums. Once you get the replacement, they should generatem new keys for the replacement without charge to you.

I try not to use FedEx. It seems they deliver my stuff to the wrong house and I have to go looking for it. I also instruct to deliver to back door, but they get lazy and drop off on the front porch. Even have a sign to deliver to back door. Good thing I live in a decent neighborhood when I come home from work and see a big box with HANDGUN AMMUNITION emblazoned on it on my front porch.

Last I knew, some FedEx drivers are contractors.

UPS drivers are Teamsters.

They "seem" to be much more professional.

I actually got a e-mailed photo of a delivery on my steps.

USPS has something called "Informed Delivery"

I get an e-mail at 7:15 AM showing me a photo of the packages and letters I am receiving that day

I believe the ones that are "contractors" are FedEx Ground. What is now FedEx ground used to be RPS (Roadway Package System, a unit of Roadway Freight before they merged with Yellow Freight). I know in the DFW area, some of the FedEx Ground drivers are technically franchisees of FedEx. They have a territory to cover, and some of them have other drivers working for them, not directly for FedEx.

The only delivery service that has emailed any pictures of packages dropped off to me are those working for Amazon Logistics. But I had so many issues with them leaving shipments on someone else's porch, among other issues, I forced Amazon to use someone else for shipping, unless an order was coming from one of the local fulfillment warehouses.

When I was working for a computer services company, ordering parts for shipments across the country, we had more issues with UPS than FedEx. Regardless of the carrier, there a few bad apples in anyone's basket of field staff.

I'm hoping Uniden's Support account could chime in here. What are my next steps? How long does it take process for Uniden's corporate people take to process a request like this. Should I be filling a claim with FedEx also? Some input would be appreciated.

I really hope something good comes out of this. I really don't want to spent another $900+ CAD for another radio.

Kinda sucks that I shipped them the battery, antenna, belt clip, and SD card. At least I still have the BNC to SMA antenna adapter, and USB cable/power brick. I had a really nice screen protector on that unit too! What a shame :( !

That Sux... I'm sure you aren't the only one to send accessories back. NEVER send anything back but a naked radio. That includes the battery cover and original box. They have everything they will need

Seems to me that someone stole it from the new left out on the porch by the front door? I would also contact the local police department and provide them with a serial number. Maybe your home owners/renters insurance less your deductible will cover part of this.
That's my advise from a father of a police officer. I also feel that it is Uniden's fault too if "THEY" sent it to your old address. I would swing by that house and see what the new home owner has to say.
Best of luck and keep us informed.

Called FedEx (yet again) to see if the driver actually went out to scan the area he/she left the parcel. Of course, they wouldn't tell me. The shipper (Uniden) is responsible for filling a claim. Its been 4 business days and still nothing. Probably going to take a week or two to figure this all out.
