I work with a North-field officer and he said in November that SO and all Small city departments were switching so what your hearing may very much so be the SO/Small Area Group

Right but SO is TG 40-41,

these are showing up on TG 2 which is supposed to be LMPD Div 3 & 8
thus the confusion .

What you might be hearing are the VIPER units. They are on all the channels as I understand it. As of this posting, I don't believe the Sheriffs Department and other small cities are on the Metro system yet. Should be very soon though.

At LMEMS (where I am a Paramedic), our Med 1 channel is simulcast on the old Med Channel 10 (UHF), based upon my understanding. This channel covers approximately 1/2 the run volume, and roughly 2/3 the geographic area of Metro Louisville. Can anyone advise if the fire channels simulcast on VHF or UHF channels still?

What is the VIPER unit anyway? I hadn't heard of it before the other day.

The VIPER Unit - for Violent Incident Prevention, Enforcement and Response - will target "hot spots" of violent crime, go after the city's worst offenders, hunt down fugitives and battle gang activity. This is referencing a story from the Courier on 8/27/12.

Does Metrosafe indeed have five (5) control channel frequencies???

The following are currently listed:
854.21250c
854.48750c
854.73750c
855.36250c
856.76250c

I thought four (4) was the max the system could have.

Can someone run UNITRUNKER/PRO96COM and confirm?

Thanks

Was under the impression that the TG 1600 was all TARC or transport.
monitoring to see what develops.

also hearing TG 60 with units 178, 188, @ 190 checking in..&
TG 61,

with no clear idea, who or what.. yet....

The "word on the street" is that there will be 8 SO talkgroups, four of which will be tactical. 1 and 2 are for general sheriff operations (process, warrants, etc). 3 is for court room operations. 4 will be for the small city police departments. I've heard traffic on 1, 2 and 3. I think the small cities are still migrating.

The 1600s are TARC, but I haven't done any listening to them to confirm.

The airport has not yet gone active on MetroSafe.

Been monitoring TG 1601, and it does appear to be the airport
hearing the same unit numbers and day to day operations of
TG 32768 on their old system..

IE:

K9-2
unit 41
and ramp to ramp escort.

There is a new pdf on MetroSafe's public website that should clear up any confusion... http://www.louisvilleky.gov/NR/rdon...HE_METROSAFE_800MHz_ASTRO_25_RADIO_SYSTEM.pdf

Surfer, I'm glad you are liking the Uniden, I really prefer it. Sounds a lot better after the firmware upgrade! If you need any help or advice on ways to program it to be more user friendly, let me know. I program them 85% dummy-proof!

Thanks, I believe I have it programmed correctly, just learning the quirks now. ( & I are a dummy, at times) Used Freescan to set it up. working well..
great improvement over the Pro-96 audio wise... little weird programming editing from the keypad. but I
figure its a learning curve.. took me a few months to get the pro-96 down pat..
but freescan handles the major and minor changes well.

TG-1001 -- TG-1003 is written up in the PDF as JCTC-1-JCTC-3 assume that stands for Jefferson county
transportation or traffic center/control ? have not heard a great deal of traffic on those to determine exactly who/what/duties
