low band state trooper freqs

Not that I've seen in the south alabama area. All of our trooper here are on the VHF frequencies. A look back in the forum indicates these haven't been used state wide for years.

Low Band Ala DPS

Having lived in Anniston and Montgomery in the 1980's, they weren't used then either.

Also notice the cars, there is no low band antenna. Georgia, where I now live has the same. Old unused low band from way back.

I believe the low band went out around 1960 or before when the VHF 154 159 range was
established state-wide. I worked as a part-time county dispatcher when in high school then
and recall the change over of what was then called the "High Way Patrol" vehicles.

As a new ham operator at that time - I noticed such things.

I know the Department of Corrections uses VHF-low band. I'd have to check and see if they are using any of the old DPS frequencies....
