Low USB BUS Voltage

Not sure why this started, I never had problems connecting to my computer to program before, but recently every time i connect to my computer I get the "Low usb bus voltage" my cable says usb shielded high speed cable 2.0 28awgx20 30V. any ideas?

Does the "Low USB BUS voltage" message also appears if you plug it on another USB port on your computer or with an AC adapter?

I think I figured out the issue, I had it plugged into a 4-way usb adapter, I plugged straight into the computer and it seems to be working fine now. Thanks

When you connect one of the SDS100 scanners to a PC, and get the "low bus voltage" message, it's telling you that there is not enough current capacity (as evidenced by the 'low bus voltage' message) to both operate, as well as charge, your SDS100 scanner, Usually, you can override that message & still operate the scanner. But the battery will not be charged, and it will flip the "charge while scanning" item in the settings to disable. You'd end up having to go back & reset that so that the scanner will both operate, as well as charge the battery, when connected to a power source (external power adapter) with sufficient capacity to allow both functions.

When selecting a cable to use with the SDS100, look for "AWG24".
This indicates that the cable has 'thicker' power and ground wires, minimizing the voltage drop because of them having less resistance.

I do not charge my battery in the scanner, per Uniden recomendation.

Thanks for the link and response, as I stated I think I found and fixed the issue, I was using a "4-way" USB splitter, I bypassed that and connected straight to the computer and that seems to have fixed the issue, but thanks again.

Clean the contacts on the USB connectors, I've had that happen and a little IPA on a Q-tip clears it up.

I use a 4 port USB hub too... But it has it's own AC power adapter...
It's not trying to pull power from the computer's USB port...
So I don't see that problem...
