i noticed the frequency in the database..151.3XX.....and then in brackets it says (handled by county radio)...my question is, is the listed frequency still used and active?

Yes and yes. LMFD is dispatched by the county on this frequency which is licensed to Lower Merion directly. Most of the other dispatch frequencies in the county are licensed to the county (Cheltenham is another exception). Both the county and Norristown hold licenses on the 154.370 freq which is why other departments ended up being dispatched on this freq as companies move over to highband paging.

Ok, so what region of fire would i be able to hear them on??

Right now, LMFD still operates on 453.600. Very soon (June), LMFD will be making the switch to Fire Region 4. The UHF equipment will remain in service for fireground operations until some point in the future when the LM companies feel they have enough 800MHz radios...or so I have been told.

Lower merion twp fire dispatch

If you really want to learn more about Lower Merion Twp fire including in depth coverage about their current system and the future of it you should check out this link to a evaluation that was done recently on Lower Merion and it's overall fire dept current practices and recommendations. It was emailed by a friend of mine and I learned a great deal abpout Lower Merion from it. Somewhere in the report it does extensively cover radio systems usage, plus some interesting things. I won't give away too much but lets just say 800 mhz, nearest unit dispatching (including outside of twp if nescessary) and a QRS in each fire statioin were mentioned/recommended.

While I'm here there seems to be some confusion between people I know in the kingdom, people I know that are allowed to help the kingdom (west conshy) and people in my FD that work and handle LM up at county so maybe someone who knows FOR SURE can clarify for me. Is LM still dispatched at all on the 33.840 crossbanded into the crap or are they now exclusively using the 151 higband freq? I know county will be happy if theyre system gets overhauled. I've been told it's like talking thru a tunel which is why they ask chiefs and trucks 4 times what did you say......
