Ok. IF you want LRRP to work right now AND you download the latest version of stunnel (that barks about MITM attacks) AND you are okay with the fact that you are using a version of LRRP.EXE that is 7 years old and missing some things, proceed.

1. Download the old LRRP.EXE

- this is LRRP 1.15 from 2018
- rename your current LRRP.EXE and then unzip this and put it in your DSDPlus folder

Now, for the latest stunnel (and it's complaining about MITM attacks)

2. Add some files to support PSK authentication in stunnel:

In c:\users\<user>\AppData\Local\Programs\stunnel\config\ directory , create the following files :

Code:
psk.txt
-------
test1:oaP4EishaeSaishei6rio6xeeph3az

psk1.txt
---------
test1:oaP4EishaeSaishei6rio6xeeph3az

And of course you chould change those test1 lines to something else. You never have to type it in. That's just authenticating the PSK client with the PSK server.

3. in the Stunnel GUI, edit the configuration and reload -- adding right above the Gmail stuff:

[PSK server]
accept = 3001
connect = 3002
ciphers = PSK
PSKsecrets = psk.txt

[PSK client 1]
client = yes
accept = 127.0.0.1:3002
connect = localhost:3001
PSKsecrets = psk1.txt

4. Reload the stunnel.conf configuration via the GUI

5. Fire up the old LRRP.exe

Works for me. Just keep in mind that there are certain things not supported in LRRP 1.15 that are supported in the latest version. Track through notest.txt to see what will be missing.

Mike
Also keep in mind that the MITM warning may just be that. Simply using the old version of the LRRP with the original configuration information in the notes.TXT file for S tunnel may get you going.

Wow, thanks, Mike! I will try this later tonight and let you know.

You're welcome. I'd suggest trying the easy way first -- which is just to replace the current LRRP.EXE with the old one. Maybe stunnel is just "barking" about MITM but will still function. I'd only proceed to adding the psk.txt / psk1.txt files and the stanzas in the stunnel.conf if the first option is unacceptable. I was going to try it without PSK today, but I've gotten too tied up with work jazz.

Wow, thanks, Mike! I will try this later tonight and let you know.

I just confirmed (by commenting out all the PSK stuff in the stunnel.conf and rebuilding the conf) that:

a. yes stunnel complains about MITM
b. LRRP.EXE (old version) still works fine

So just switching to the old version is all you need. I don't use LRRP often, and so I'm not sure what we are missing by going back to the 2018 LRRP.EXE. But I know that the stored points that were in lrrp.cfg seem to be showing up just fine. If you can live with whatever limitations the old version has compared to the new version, then you're good to go.

Mike, I want to thank you again! Everything in post #20 worked for me, and I am now able to load the map in the LRRP app with the method in that post. It could have been something so simple as reverting to a previous version that contained the fix I overlooked. Thanks again!

You're welcome. I'm glad it's working for my own sake too. This morning I watched the school buses motor around the county lol

@IU0LFT @seagravebuff60 @mwjones @PDXh0b0 @cg and anyone else

Here ya go. The author has provided an updated version of LRRP.EXE (LRRP v 1.27) that supports HTTPS. Tiles work fine without any stunnel or anything, and you have the latest LRRP features.

LRRP.EXE V 1.27 Download

Mike
Thanks for the tag mike.
I can report that V1.27 works on my end with no stunnel. Thanks to the DSD+ author and thanks mike for you help to get it working in the meantime.

I don't pay attention. But that probably makes sense since DSDplus is doing the checking and DSDPlus doesn't know about the new LRRP 1.27 that you downloaded since it wasn't delivered with the distribution. Doesn't affect it's usage or performance..

Good morning. None of the solutions provided have worked for me, so I had to find an alternative solution to download the maps and then use them with LRRP.EXE. I remembered the days when I used OZIExplorer for offline navigation, and that there were applications that downloaded georeferenced maps so they could be used offline. LRRP stores the downloaded maps in the “Singles” folder, and when we check the properties of each image file, we see that they are 256x256 pixels and 8 bits. The size and bits can vary, and LRRP can use them, but it seems that with a larger size and more bits, the map flickers. LRRP does not process them at a good speed.

I have found free software that allows us to download maps of a specific area at various resolutions, giving us several zoom levels. The software is called TAHO. I believe the latest version is 4.12.

Instructions:

1. Open Taho and press the Bbox-tool button. A map opens in the browser (Chrome in my case).

2. Go to the area of the map you want to download, zoom in as much as you need to. The final result is not affected by this zoom, it is only to help you move around the map. Select “Select area” to mark a box with the part of the map you want to download.

3. In the black window at the bottom left, a link is created that you have to copy. Right-click on it and select “Copy” from the menu that appears.

4. Return to the Taho application and click “OK” in the Bbox-tool window. The coordinates of the desired map will be automatically pasted into the Taho application.

5. In Output, select how you want the map files to be organized and where they will be stored. Leave it on “Auto” or select the folder you want.

6. In the map sources section, I have only tried the “Mapnik(de)” source, which works correctly, and the first “Cicle” source, which downloads some pixelated images, making it unusable. Anyone who wants to try other sources is welcome to do so. I have not tried overlays, nor do I need calibration files. As it stands, the map shows street names just like Google Maps. That's enough for me.

7. In zoom level, I have marked all levels (I think it only downloads up to level 17). In Bits/pixel, set 8 (although I have tried 24 and 32 and it also works). In size, I have tried very large maps, but LRRP does not seem to process them quickly and there is flickering on the map. Finally, select “png.tile” in File type.

8. Click on “make maps” and the map download will begin. The larger the area, the more maps you will need to download. Don't try to download too much at once; you can download small maps of the area you need, and later combine folders from other maps so that lrrp can use them as needed.

9. If you get an error message at the end of the download, don't worry, I think it's because you've selected to download more zoom levels than the map server allows.

10. The downloaded map folder will have the name of the server from which you downloaded it. In my case, “Mapnik(de)”. The next step is to rename this folder “Singles” and place it in the same location as LRRP.EXE.

11. If you want to combine several downloads in the same folder, simply drag the new folders that are created into the main folder, paste them, and combine them with the ones already in Singles. Copy and combine everything.

Latest DSDPlus free public release is 2.547 from late 2025 and LRRP v1.27 works fine for me. Have you updated to that?

Glad you created a workaround, perhaps whatever country you are in the tile site is blocked.
