If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

So I was finally able to get the programming software and cable and all in to program a radius M1225. I have everything set correctly. I have to power level set to high for transmit. Of course there is a "Transmit Power Calibration" section where the levels can be more precisely tuned. What I am wondering is if there is somewhere that has what the numbers in this section of program equal? Such as if number A is this such and such and number B is such and such then your output watts is blank. Or is this something that is only done through playing with it and a piece of equipment. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, if this is something that has to be done with some equipment can you point me in the direction of someone that has it in Louisiana or the name of the equipment. Thanks again.

Ideally you need a watt meter and a 50Ω load to set it correctly. Individual radios will have slightly different settings since individual components will be a bit different tolerances.

If doing an alignment, you'd also need a ammeter to connect in the DC power feed.

I wouldn't touch any of that stuff unless there is an issue. If the radio is set for 25 watts and you get 24 on a watt meter that 1 watt will never be missed. You really need a service monitor to do a full calibration properly. Just program the radio and enjoy.

Correct do NOT mess with any 'Alignment settings' without properly calibrated test equipment. That is NOT part of programming the radio.
