Ok just a quick question.... on the M7100 is he DES-OFB and AES just a add on flash or does it also require flash and hardware like the Motorola ...?
thanks in advance
thanks in advance
Ok thanks so if you have a non encryption radio you can buy updated feature string and DSP and your good Togo..?
Correct.
I have a KVL3000+ I wonder if that will load AES keys into it like my XTL radios
I have had success with loading AES keys into both XG and XL series radios with my KVL5000. I haven't tried with the x7100s though. The KVL3000+ is said to work with the XG and XL radios, but I have no idea about the x7100 series. We're slowly getting rid of our x7100 series since they don't do Link Layer Authentication.
Ok off subject what is link layer authentication...?

Wait... are you having issues with the XG portables or XG mobiles? The XG portable has been as easy as the XL-200P. I know we had some trouble with the XG-100M mobiles at first but we were able to sort it out. How???? I have a KVL5000 and XL200 portables work like a charm, but using the Harris keyloader cables I couldn't get the XG radios to take the key. Hook up the cable, the radio says "Keyload" and then the keyloader just spins it's wheels.
Thanks for re-affirming my reasoning for our company avoiding encryption. With over 200 radio sites, 400 aircraft, and who knows how many portables... I'd need a fleet of technicians just to keep the encryption going.![]()
Not feasible in my case.OTAR...

Oh... The only issue I had with Keyloading the XG-portable was making sure that I had loaded the encryption module properly in RPM and updated the feature encryption in the maintenance utility... after that, it was off to the races... I just wish there was an "single-key encryption" feature set for them... vice dropping the money for multi-key just for testing purposes.... Thankfully, I don't have many of them floating around my fleet.XG portables; haven't attempted mobiles yet. Using the actual Harris cable for use with Motorola KVL devices.
I'm told that the KVL3000+ and KVL4000 work just fine; the KVL5000 is an updated version of the KVL4000 (based around an Android phone instead of a Blackberry-style device), so I have no idea what the problem is. Wish I could make it work; I really don't want to spend money on the Harris keyload software.
Ultimately, I would love to end up with an OTAR solution... unfortunately, given my issue with standardization, I would need the solution to be vendor-neutral...We have over 11,000 radios and all are encrypted. Easy day with OTAR. The only radios we load with a KVL are non-Harris, like Motorola. All of the Harris radios are loaded with the UKEK Provisional file with Key Loader software and then they request the key via OTAR.
