A couple of questions for the Middlesex Co area in MA:

- Smarttravler on 460.925, are there any other channels like this for live traffic updates (aside from the news). Where do these people that are reporting operate from ? Is this traffic reporting part of a job in the state or just people volnteering to update as they get stuck in traffic ?

- Middlesex Radio, I guess out of Woburn ? Are they a notification net or for traffic ? How does this group operate and who is in charge ?

SmartRoutes only uses 460.9250
Metro Traffic uses a 450.....

They are both NOW owned by the same Corp/Parent

The Control Point from the FCC license will usually tell you where they actually operate from

7 BULFINCH PLACE, SUFFOLK, BOSTON, MA
P: (617)494-8100

The traffic networks use volunteers who happen to be on the road to report any issues on their normal commuting route. they do employ paid internal staff.

WBZ uses a Traffic Tip Line, Metro has folks thru SmartRoutes as well as folks on Nextel and other avenues of Two-Way

As for the Notification Networks see here
Media and Fire Buff - Scan New England Wiki

Many are private groups formed over the years, and are by invitation only.. [YMMV]
