The Madison trunked system was down this morning. I'm not exactly sure how long it was down or if it was scheduled downtime (didn't sound like it), but it came back up around 8:50 AM. They had PD on ITAC and ICALL. I'm not positive what they did with Fire/EMS, but I'm assuming they just had them on the county channels. I did realize I don't have ITAC and ICALL programmed into my mobile scanner...time to fix that right now.

But one question I have... Do Madison hospitals have a backup frequency for ambulance-to-hospital comms? Normally when they do the patching they're patching into the TRS I believe, so I'm curious if they have any backup beyond "use your cellphone".

If the fire and EMS were using the county channels then the EMS would just get a patch on 155.400, atleast that would be logical.

Not exactly. Normally they're patching from 155.400 (ambulance) a trunked channel (hospital). If the trunked system is down, there's nothing to patch to. Unless the hospitals are able to monitor and transmit on a backup frequency of some sort.
