Well, I got 3 years of use of my Uniden BCD396XT. Hopefully, there will be a legal fix for this someday soon, or a scanner that does it..

The ONLY chance you'll have is if the Chief has a change of heart and turns off the encryption. If you hold your breath waiting for a scanner to defeat the encryption, you're going to turn blue.

Kenny is right.
There is very little chance of him turning it off and going clear mode..
They obviously want no help from the public on certain crimes..
off beat here for a sec-- Portland Me, is going p25 too, and they too will probably go %100 enc..
Yep, scanning Manchester will NEVER be the same again..
MAYBE, you will hear 1 or 2 transmissions in the clear,
but like Kenny said " I wouldn't hold my breath"...

I get the argument from both sides, but the pd should have made a channel for sensitive info or learn to hit the code button when relaying such information, and leave the dispatch in the clear for basic calls. I'm in Hudson, and they code some info at times when I listen. Same thing for Lowell. They code when needed. For me, this is a hobby and it really doesn't affect how I view the men and women in blue. I totally support them.

Nashua had visited going with Encryption,But when they were informed of the additional cost of $500.00 dollars extra per radio they decided to limit it to just the Swat and the Narcs. Anything sensitive is done by cell phone anyway.

Question on reprogramming a Whistler 1065 for the new system. It has 2 P25 options in the trunked program, auto and manual, which should I use?

Radio ID info

Good morning,

I never knew about the radio id feature on my scanner until last week. I started a list of IDs that popped up for a little while on Friday and for a while yesterday. I'm not sure if anyone has any use for them, but I attached the list if you want to take a peek.

I do have a question about it though. I noticed that some IDs are in the 200s and some in the 2500s for the PD. Would I be right to assume that one set of IDs is for the vehicles, and the other set is for the portables?
