The Fleetnet tower map topic jogged my memory. A year or two ago I created a map in Google Maps of the NS TMR tower sites. Zone 1 sites are green (sys id 6939), zone 2 sites are yellow (sys id 6D19). Pink are miscellaneous things. All sites have their primary control channel listed, but not a/control channel. I never got around to that.

Just thought it might be interesting to share that and get some feedback

I was wondering if its possible to receive the Nova Scotia frequencies in New Brunswick.?

Say receiving in Saint John Rothesay area's from Digby or other valley sites

Great map and lots of work to create it.

Great question. I know the TMR has decent coverage on parts of PEI, but the Bay of Fundy is a lot wider than the Northumberland Strait. Still I would imagine with the right gear, you might be able to hit one of the towers from the Saint John area. I never thought to test that last time I was in Saint John.

I have a BC 796 and a and my antenna is up 35 feet with 1 1/2 inch coax as the feed line. The antenna is a discone.

Maybe on your next trip to the Saint John area you could do a test. That would be be appreciated.

I am truly impressed that you are running 1 1/2 inch coax from a discone up 35 feet. What did you run? Andrews LDF6-50 Heliax? Or Times Wireless LMR-1200 or LMR-1700? Or what? Just curious! Also curious how much it and the connectors cost, and how much trouble attaching the connectors was.

Coax

Not sure wat it was, except that I needed a large back yard to make the turn from the antenna site to the house and its all unground.

The connectors were tough but I made the converson out side using copper pipe and reduced the coax to fit a normal coax connector.

Had to us a torch to melt the solder and heat the copper. Glad it was September, not March.

The cable came from a old microwave site that was decommissioned. Had to hire a truck and strong man to help carry the 200 feet. It would not fit in the trunk of my car. The price was zero, right place at the right time

The loss was just about zero.

Nice work. :)

I think it should be put into the Nova Scotia database in the Collaborate link.

Hi Chris:

Maybe on your next trip to YSJ and you think of it, make a test to see if signals are available and let me know. I am not sure if I program my 796 propertly to pick up those frequencies.

NSTMR in St.John area

Yes, I was in Saint John over weekend. No problem to pick up sites from the Digby area.
The place where I was staying was on the harbour, not sure about as far as Rothesay.
On past trips, I've experimented with trying to pick up NS, it's possible anywhere
along the Fundy coast.
Likewise, one can pick up the Saint John System from the Digby/Weymouth area

And again I've used this "most excellent!" map, for about the 15th time, so I thought I would say thanks Chris, nice job on this!

What a great list, thanks! It'll certainly help me in my trip out east, that's for sure.

Now if only we had a confirmed up to date and correct talkgroup list...

No problem guys! Personally, I have to map everything out to get a good understanding of it, so I figured it would come in handy for some other folks too :)

The talkgroup list in the DB should be confirmed and correct, as well as up to date!

All the information I have accessed from the DB, and from that map you made worked just fine, so I would say its up to date. At least up to date as of 07/01/2011.

An if anyone finds any accuracies they should let people like Chris know, unless they're just trying to stir up trouble by saying it. I've used it and it seems good like NE just said Chris, thanks for your efforts.
