Is there a computer network simular to skype or echo link were you can either lisen and or transmit of the marine frequencies? I live just out side of philadelphia and one of the problems I have is I can't hear the coast guard on both 16 and 22A then again I only have a back of the set antenna on the tranmitter. My parient will not be too happy if I started drilling into the house for a good antenna.

I doubt that transmitting on the marine channels would be legal in this context; however there are many online scanners that you can potentially use to listen in.

The links here might be a place to start - however you might do better by asking in the Live Audio forum - perhaps someone there might be able to suggest a specific site

There are plenty of ROIP and VOIP systems you can purchase, but it sounds like you don't even have a Transmit site, so it would not be worth it.

Check the RR Feeds, maybe someone is providing that region for VHF Marine. I might resurect mine [Boston] sometime this winter, on RR since SNE's Team Speak has gone, my priority has been rebuilding the computer first.

Transmitting on marine freqs from land is illegal unless you have a very specific (and not easy to get) license. Do NOT try it.
From what I hear this is (thankfully) one area of radio that is well monitored and violators are sought. Unlike GMRS and ham.
