Received word today that there are talks of the Maryland Transportation Police going the way of encryption.

User selectable encryption has been used on MDTA talkgroups by commanders/special units for years even on their main (dispatch) channels. It isn't common but certain users are always encrypted.
I haven't heard if they are fully going encrypted but they are in the process of "touching" all radios (police, maintenance, VRT) and do firmware/reprogramming.
