I am having trouble programming Mcduffie County frequencies. I have a BCD996p2 and used RadioReference to program it but all I get is silence. I know Mcduffie and Thomson use NXDN system and I have upgraded my scanner for NXDN. I don't know what I could've done wrong. Any suggestions?

Sheriff dispatch, Fire fire dispatch, and Fire Tac are all encrypted, everything else in clear. At the end of the Mode designator if there is a E its encrypted> NXDN48E

Do you have first hand experience that the things missing the "E" at the end are actually in the clear? Or are you just observing that some of the channels in the DB have not been marked encrypted?

When I last drove through the Augusta area my SDS100 (with NXDN) hit on several McDuffie channels that I didn't think were encrypted based on the DB entries, but in fact I think I was seeing only encrypted traffic. But I was driving and it turned out I'd failed to turn on Record mode so that I could go back and look for sure (by at least seeing the recorded entries on the screen, even if I couldn't hear the audio). That's why I am curious if you are sure these other channels aren't encrypted or if you're just reciting what the DB currently says, which may be in error.

Just advising what the database said, and how to read it.

Nothing is chiseled in stone in the RR databases.

Totally agree! As such, unless I personally know, I say "the database currently indicates that ... everything else in clear" rather than "everything else in clear". I will try to do a better job of verifying next time I drive through, unless anyone else can report with more first hand certainty before then. Thanks!
