I've been monitoring MedFlight for the past two weeks to get all the RIDs (see below) and have noticed a few changes:

1. It sounds like Tac 1 (17522) and Tac 2 (17525) are now Ground 1 and Ground 2. I have heard both in use but don't know exactly how they're chosen.

2. The MICU talkgroup (17520) doesn't appear to be in use. I think the MICU personnel are all on Ground 1/Ground 2 as "Team #."

3. MedFlight 21-29 callsigns are on Heli 1 almost daily. I think these are the "Fly Cars" which supplement each base.

RIDs:
2490131 MedFlight 9 (N130JV)
2590175 Monarch 1 (N145NC)

Something to keep in mind is assigning a "permanent" alias to an ID is potentially problematic. MARCS has a policy whereby a radio is assigned an ID and it keeps that ID throughout it's service life unless it's sold or disposed of. Radios get moved around a lot, and as such, the alias name assigned to it in the Wiki or wherever may not be correct.

In the case of Medflight, a bird that's Medflight 3 one week might turn up as Medflight 6 the next week, if they've had to play monkey move-up for some reason.

What is the best TG to hear them dispatch crews to scene flights ? Do they use the radio for this - or is it all done by Pager / Phone ?

Exactly. This is why I included the tail numbers, although those can also swap. However, that usually involves removing the radio from the helicopter. N130KR (the normal MF7) is out of service, so they had to borrow N425AM from Air Methods. It's now flying as MF7 and using the radio from N130KR (2590643).

I think it must be done by phone these days. I have not heard them dispatch a single flight, nor have I heard any crew radios (I know they exist, but typically aren't used when the crew is hooked up to the aircraft). That points towards phone being the primary method communication while at their base.

Cincinnati ( UC Aircare) does most all dispatch & status updates on TG 21006. You can hear they confirm daily pre-flights and weather checks as well. They fly from three different base locations. Also, you can hear other flights inbound/outbound from the Cincinnati/UC Hospital area coordinating with Aircare.

They have a satellite-based system in use. It can do voice cams, data, and aircraft diagnostics. There was an article by the company that does their maint. outfits and leases the birds.. (the name alludes me, they are on the Gulf Coast - oil platform work)

And as discussed yesterday:

Monarch 1 is using N995AL while N145NC is out of service. RID is still 2590175.

Also, it appears that MF1 (N130NE) and MF12 (MICU 12) are both using 2590586. The MICU was using it last night and the helicopter used it this morning.

Not sure. I know the helicopter radios are connected to the instrument panel plus probably a button on the cyclic, and also interface with the flight team’s helmets in the back. But I don’t know if that could be accomplished with a handheld.
