METRO25 Update

I noticed there has been a change to the METRO25 system, the system ID is now F63 and multiple radios tried to affiliate with 26D got hit with deny. Also the MTA PD District 3, 4, 5 and 9 seems to have gone somewhere else.

On the 26E site, the system ID hasn't changed but is also reporting F63 as a peer site. District 1/2 and 6/7 traffic seems to be coming in normal.

Probably a major core upgrade?

Saw that a few weeks ago. Since I don't receive that site that great, thought maybe it was bad from bad decodes.

Just adjusted my systems for the changes.
Yes the "new" Metro 25 simulcast is pretty quiet, not much affiliation so far this morning.
I am hearing D1/2, 3, 5, and 6 on the Nassau Zone 1 so far. As D5 was active on the Zone 1 site, I quickly switched over to the Metro 25 site, and nothing. Maybe its a work in progress.

yes lots of 595xx talkgroups coming up on Metro 25. I just added the Wildcard TG so I am seeing them now. Possibly just dynamic talkgroups?

Wow. Yeah, it seems to be a significant change/update. My decode is not too great, but I did manage. I'm getting a whole bunch of new TGs on mostly 595xx. I'll eventually clean up the wiki with the new info and clear out the old refrence to 26D. Im assuming F63 is replacing 26D, but did they completely do away with 26D?

Because it is “Metro-21”
“Metropolitan Radio System for the 21st Century”
I remember earlier last year, there was a brief discussion here about the "metro" simulcast's name, either 21 or 25.

Also a new FDMA talk group on 6009
Im assuming that 6009 is going to be some NYSP/NYS related talkgroup based on the RIDs, the fact that it is FDMA, it seems to fall close to NYSP/NYS TGs, and that they keep referencing the system as "metro 21".

I’m hearing the district 6 on TG 59519 now
Also hearing MTA Police on TG 59505
59501 District 9
59503 District 5
59504 District 4
Hmm, interesting. I wonder what they are doing. District 6 should be operating with D6,7,11 on the same TG. The same should be valid for D5, operating with D10 on the same TG. Maybe this is temporary, or they will be ultimately redoing their TGs in the near future.

Yes, I hear you there, but the Metro-21 system was depreciated quite a few years ago when the Metro-25 system took over. That is what I was referring to. Sometimes the units just say simply "Metro". Anyway, on with the monitoring...

Yeah, I believe it's NYSP but every time I've heard them identifying what unit they are they've came in low so far.

They are, I heard D11 on the D6 channel after. I just haven't heard all of them.

I'll be honest, I really don't care what the system is named in real life or in the RRDB. My post in the other thread from the summer pretty much summed it up. Even the guys in Albany and down in the city can't seem to agree on the name, which is why I never bothered to change it to 21. Back in the day when the EDACS system was in its last days and the P25 system was coming online, I had it on very good authority that they were calling it Metro-25, an obvious play on the P25 aspect of the new system. There was also evidence to support that in the way of NYSP and NYSPP codeplugs that had the system labeled Metro25, and so that's the way it's been ever since.

If Mr. Sweezy wants to formally (or informally) request that the name be changed to Metro-21 or Metro21 or Metro 21 or whatever, I have no problem with making the change. Maybe now is the time to do so what with the change of SysID, then we can put this to rest until someone complains that it should've remained Metro-25. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I did not put much into this but this is what I got while comparing to Zone 1.

P25, 91FE8.F63, 59501, "District 9 (TDMA)"
P25, 91FE8.F63, 59503, "District 5/10 Disp (TDMA)"
P25, 91FE8.F63, 59504, "District 4 Disp (TDMA)"
P25, 91FE8.F63, 59505, "District 3 Disp (TDMA)"
P25, 91FE8.F63, 59519, "District 6/7/11 Disp (TDMA)"

6009 appears to be EnCon Police. I heard some transmissions while in Queens. The unit identifiers were 23 Adam and 24 Adam which maybe new officers not yet assigned the usual 3 digit identifiers and the dispatcher "New York" referred to Metro 21.

Looked back at recordings, a few days ago "DEC Radio Repair for a radio check" so yes.

The F63 was going on and off this morning, and now it seems to be off.
On for me right now

Also have seen
TG 59513 is District 1/2
TG 59551 is MTA Police Transit

It's working for me. I didn't see any interruptions this morning on both UT and SDRTrunking

Also have seen
TG 59513 is District 1/2
TG 59551 is MTA Police Transit
SDR Trunk is showing that both TGs have radios that are roaming from 26E and the Console Subsystem 00A

Metro North Fire is testing out their new radios and its coverage around GCT on TG 59589.

They're also using TG 9121 which other than Troop NYC on 3001 and some ENCON on 6001 the only times I've seen any of the "old" TGs being used so far

26E is still up in Albany, showing Dutchess and Orange as neighbors. Not much traffic. Just NYSP Troop NYC, one or two transmissions on Watch Center, and a lot of encrypted traffic on 8099.
