Until the licenses are actually granted, we wont be hearing from them for a while yet. Both Clarington and Uxbridge expansion licenses have not been granted yet. The Oshawa upgrade was just updated to "passed safety check".

Nothing has been installed at the Clarington site yet. Just a plain old parking lot at the moment.

10 PRINT "Metrolinx isn't adding any new repeater sites"
20 GOTO 10
30 RUN

Their coverage in their service area is already exceptionally good. Why would they add anything? Unless they plan on expanding their network, we likely won't see any sites added.

For example, there was a site in Niagara about a year before service actually went down there. If someone started seeing a site in London or whatever, that might be something. The 2016 expansion was partly adding frequencies, but also adding in some receiver sites. Not even Public Safety has coverage as good as what you've been suggesting.

I've heard that Metrolinx will be adding new sites. In some cases, these new sites are to supply the trains with on-board internet.
I've also heard of a new site being installed in the Barrie area since the current site doesn't provide good coverage into Barrie's downtown area where the train and bus stations are.

The bandwidth requirements would dictate that the frequencies used be up in the GHz band, no?

Wouldn't surprise me. I'd think that it could just be part of the existing simulcast zone up there, so no changes in scanner programming.

In other news, the unknown connect tone is 105.88

That would probably be a wise assumption although I'm not 100% sure the fellow that was telling me about it actually knew anything about it.

I would guess so as well. Will have to sneak a peek at the install when it gets done.

Is that system actually still on the air?
