Used to be in Saline Mi and listened to everything I could there also.
Mostly PD FD road commission air craft and Rail Roads.

New to RR and new owner to the 996. I am in St. Clair County, Michigan so if any one out there in the county(or anywhere else) has a 996 I sure would appreciate the help in learning the scanner. It looks like a steep learning curve!!

Hello Michiganders,
I am Tim from Centerline. I am new to scanning, and having a great time so far.

This site has been a huge help to me in learing the ropes.

I bought a RS Pro-96, and usually monitor Warren/Centerline, as well as MSP and Macomb county sherriff. I hope to learn alot more about scanning and am sure will be expanding my equipment arsenal... My wife said she can tell already this is going to be an expensive hobby

Hello everyone.
I'm in eastern Calhoun county near Jackson county border.
I'm bummed out....our local PD went APCO-25 and made my 2 scanners...RS-Pro-2030 and BC9000XLT obsolete for listening to local PD!
Cannot afford $500-$600 for new digital scanner right now.
So Im goining thru scanner withdrawal right now in south central Michigan!

Hi ya all.

Im in Brighton Mi, Monitering Livingston and Washanaw county public safty.
I have a Pro-96 that i use here in brighton to listing to brighton. and when i go out i take it with me and use a kinda home made antenna. I took a mfj 1/4 that i had laying around and cut to 13 and 1/4 of inch and works great. The other thing i notice was when im listing to ann arbor in arbor there public safty if i turn on att... in the city on to golbal att. that they get really clear and is not as staticky. Just though i would let you know..

The best way to program your radio is with the Win96 program from Don Starr.
You can find it at http://www.starrsoft.com/
You can try it for 30 days before paying for it but 99.999% of the users here will tell you to get it. When you do decide to pay for it (and you will because once you start using it you are too spoiled to go back to manual entry) use a credit card or Paypal and you will get your key in a matter of minutes.
