Hi from Holland

I'm in Holland. I have an older PRO-23 handheld that I keep at work for background noise, plus a ?? desktop model that's several years old. Both by Radio Shack. I'm getting my mother a new PRO-2096 for Christmas and have been using/testing it at home so I can compare it to my old desktop model at home. I have ordered a PRO-96 for myself for home. I got the handheld model mostly because if the power goes out I can stick batteries in it and still listen to the scanner.

I like to listen to the usual Police, Fire, EMS stuff. I've heard a few big accidents lately, one out in Allendale and one in Holland Township, where Aeromed was called in. Could tell they're bad when the police set up a Command Center at the site.

Anyway, how do most of you sort/categorize your Channel Banks? I want to cover Ottawa County, but also the surrounding Kent, Muskegon and Allegan counties. Muskegon and Kent counties have almost 100 frequencies each. How many frequencies fit on each channel bank on the PRO-96?

Also, is the Starrsoft program dependable? I've read some posts of him not answering emails and people not getting their keys after they paid for it.

I'm an old dog learning new digital scanning tricks, with my PRO-96 Christmas present. There has been a bit of adjustment period to get used to this radio, compared to my PRO-2006 or Yupitero radios....but thankfully, RadioReference has made the transition MUCH easier !!! Thanks for all the postings and replies....and Happy Scanning !!!!!

I monitor from Adrian, in Lenawee county.
I monitor the county sherrif, local PD's, and local emergency services. Sometimes I listen to Gus Harrison prison, but too much chatter and radio checks there for me.
(My scanner goes from 118MHz to 173MHz) Sometimes I scan the whole range just to see what all is out there.

Might as well thow in from mid Warren,

396t for Warren, Detroit, Macomb, Wherever I am for MSPSCS or Oakland County for work.

PRO-94 for anything else, works fine. All hooked up to an old TV antenna on the roof. It works fine at a 45 degree angle, massively overloads the 396. For that I run a Ratshack 800mhz stubby.

Other than that, I have a full bank of control channels for MSPSCS which makes for a great drive up to the UP.

Monitoring the Tecumseh/Adrian areas.

Quite interested in local "small time" airports in the area, DOT traffic and small town paramedic/fire monitoring.

Using my new RS PRO-97 to do it all!
