Over the past week or so there have been numerous flights to Alpena County Regional Airport (KAPN) that is attached to the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center. There has been many KC-46's landing there. Yesterday KC-46's from McGuire landed there as Waldo21 (21-46060) and Waldo22 (21-46093) from Charleston AFB. In addition, earlier this week on May 13th, two MC-130J's Zippo 61 (22-5989) and Zippo 81 (21-5965) flew to KPAN and then returned to KMDT.

I have to guess that there is a large exercise happen in this area, does anyone else have any info?

There were a couple of C-17s that headed that way recently as well, but I missed where they landed...I've been searching online since I spotted the C-130s heading there, I cannot find anything.

They are working with the Air National Guard there for an operational readiness evaluation, looks like there were three tankers. The other planes do not seem to be related.

Yeah no news on usual news sources. Seems Alpena keeps a tight lid till afterwards.
They had a 2 week exercise back in March-April but just posted about it a week or so ago.
TACP, SERE Airmen conduct sensing operations against 820 BDG opposing forces at exercise Capri Sun

But you can watch Navy folks play with their emergency gear a few days ago inside a P-8A up off Iceland.
Joint deployment with VP-49 and VP-69 out of Wash State.

Saw those WALDO 46s head north on Wednesday morning along with McGuire C-17s. On Thursday WALDOs made a round trip out of APN to meet the Thunderbirds over eastern Utah and drag them east for the McGuire airshow this weekend. Then a hop down tho CHS to spend Friday night in the city and back to APN. Maybe some type of Agile Combat Employment exercise, training for operating out of unfamiliar airfields?

1520: REDDOG-11 flt of two with ACY app “running the beach” and two 160th SOAR H-60s coming north along the beach as well.

The United States Air Force’s ambitious plan to modernize its aging fleet of B-52 Stratofortress bombers hit a significant snag this month, as rising costs in the radar upgrade program triggered a mandatory notification to Congress under the Nunn-McCurdy Act.

Yeah sometimes you wonder if putting a gazillion dollars into an old Warbird is worth it.
Maybe just build more of the new ones?

Back on that subject I watched 60 minutes tonight and they had founder Palmer Lucky of that
Mil tech company Anduril based in California.
The Aussies have signed up with them for AI remote Subs and Loyal Wingman jet drones.

Interesting segment.. They also make some fantastic Mil drones for US offense and defense.
He mentioned the top 5 legacy US Defense Contractors are in the business for staying in business.

Maybe refurbishing old B-52's is not such a great idea.. Maybe ready my mid 2030's? Heck even Elon Musk thinks F-35's are a waste of money.
I think we are in a soon new age of AI Mil aircraft that we can't even see yet.. We have already seen some of that in the Ukraine war where
cheap drones take out expensive manned tanks and ships... Those are just the beginning cheapies.
Lots of fast changes coming..

John I'm missing GOLDN-10 on my list. Do you have that one?
John seems there was a GOLDN-10?-11 double delivery according to Boeing news.
Was originally BOE-100 in test runs.. Maybe #22-46100? Maybe used another callsign besides GUCCI?
