Ex Def Secretary Esper said today he would order CAP patrols along with the drones..
Publish a notam for that airspace and away you go.. F-22's hanging in the area will stop that silly pilot stuff.
Couple weeks ago the RAF sent their OC-135 up to Murmansk area but also had along two Typhoons..
That alone stops any adversarial hotdog pilots from trying any tricks..
Without a will to do anything when appropriate, it's just a waste of fuel. Posing is expensive (for F-22s I think its something like $100,000 per flight hour).

Thanks

Maybe sending lumbering slow spy plane into contested Intl airspace is not smart but if we can't protect our
own Mil assets in that airspace then change is needed.
Forget costs, we blow wads of money circling F-16/F-15's over Delaware on weekends for the mythical wondering kamikaze Cessna
not to mention all the current costs currently circling manned spy planes and support in Eastern Europe.
Pentagon never worries about expenses on almost anything.

Like I suggested, it all depends on the national / leaders will about what to do when confronted or attacked.

The aircraft don't have to be escorted if there's a certainty of a later response for hostile actions , so far there is no expected response, it's not just the current group of people,... in the past when things happened, a VERY harshly worded letter from the state department would be the result.

Which probably kept us out of a lot of wars, but might have gotten us into some also, no straight forward solutions on this.

Thanks
Joel

Confirmation on the DEVIL/DEMON flights we caught last week Westbound.
Pic shows Lt Col of the 306th FS which is that fairly new active Wing of the 177thFW.

Duke MOA has Res for 10:30am-12PM local this morning...
