Less possibility of a general aviation aircraft operating after sundown (most would be on IFR flight plan or getting advisory service from ATC radar. The USCG helo Bouncer 1 is available after dark. That is why they practice a lot of night intercept operations down near the Sea Isle VOR area. They usually work with a CAP aircraft or amongst themselves.

If need be - Atlantic City has F16s a short distance away. I am sure NORAD monitors the airspace 24/7 regardless of what is airborne.

And I thought it was because any possible threat was afraid of the dark :)

AXEMAN-01 flight of two departed Martin State headed North at FL 11k due to cloud layer icing.
Asks about tanker STEEL-62 out of Pittsburgh showing headed East up to PA/NY State line area as #58-0112 at 16.7k feet.

TEFLON-12 coming down from Pease for CAP KC-135 #62-3550 AZ ANG.. Long way from home.

There is a Buff #60-0062 off the deck from Barksdale headed Northeast. Maybe will head this way?

Axeman was in Duke MOA with Steel tanker

Joining the discussion a bit late, I well recall the days of day and night CAPs over Washington soon after 9-11, which resulted in a lot of very bored fighter pilots trying to stay awake by chatting on the radio and trying to avoid resorting to karaoke. So I'm always surprised when today's CAPs shut down.

The assumption now seems to be that any air attack will come from small planes on VFR and perhaps flown by an amateur pilot unfamiliar with night flying. I can tell you from having flown at low altitudes on the fringes of P-56 on many nights that it is very difficult to pick out even the White House in the darkness. It's buried in the trees and is a low building surrounded by taller buildings. I'm not familiar with the Delaware locations. Of course, with GPS and a professional IFR pilot, the danger increases. But someone has figured the probabilities and has concluded that we're now doing all we really need to do.

Saw this export come out of Owego NY. Seems a Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky plant there that makes sub assemblies
and ships them to the Sikorsky CT plant then flown back to Owego for final assembly and export.
Seems Owego NY plant doing most of the new exports.

Lockheed Martin awarded $379 million helicopter contract: What it means for Owego

1800L - INVENTOR standing by for traffic on 11175 and 8992. Four E-6Bs up nationwide.

1803L - INVENTOR calling 11175 for last caller, say again last.
Callsign sounded like “SPLITGUN” requesting to check into the net and authenticate.

2305Z “SPLITGUN” entered net.
1809L - SPLITGUN began EAM CZWUS3.
