I think they were in the Crypt MOA today. Heard some chatter on the scanner before leaving the house this afternoon.

297.3 - sounds like refueling coordination. Anyone got any idea which AR track this frequency is associated with?

406 Low and High have been around a while. They're more or less along the IA/MO and NE/KS border.

Autovon and all, The Carma doc is a decent baseline in my opinion but you'll note the date of the document. A lot has changed since then.

Voice comms heard in Winterset, IA today...

I'm listening on a PSR-800. It's in the other room, so I haven't had a chance to look at frequencies, but will continue listening.

HAWKEYE ONE TWO is dropping GBU 12s on a treeline not far from here, "Dropping on the green smoke, and I do not see muzzle flashes; we will drop sensors on the site."

"Burma...good hits...no need for another reattack."

"Hawkeye One-Two has captured your location; sensors on."

"Danger close for a GBU-38 airburst."

"Cyclone push eleven, 288.3." "Checking in, Level 10,000."

"Okay, Hawkeye, that's all we got; we gotta go home for land time."

"Back to initial; push 3."

A few notes from this weekend. Mostly PAT flights of BE20's out and about over the weekend, one flight decided to take a few touch and go's at MCW.

While I was out with the ADS-B laptop this weekend, noted coverage in the area of both VHF and Uniform frequencies, especially originating at MCW. I know many databases show Uniform frequencies that are not used here so here is the current usage. High altitude is 323.0250, coverage with a mobile antenna is about 30nm surrounding MCW. Low altitude is 257.6750, with a useful coverage of a bit less than the high alt frequency, again using a mobile ¼ wave antenna. With the MCW ATC antennas being at 1250 feet, the VHF range is barely 20 miles, even on top of ridges.

Also heard today: Mentions of CRYPT and callsign CYCLONE.

Don't know if you knew it or not, but Crypt is the MOA in NW Iowa and Cyclone is one of the F-16 callsigns out of Des Moines. Take advantage of the F-16 traffic while you can, the jets are leaving Des Moines fairly soon. :(
