most of the active members of the Minnesota forum are in the Twin Cities

Who all of a sudden gets to decide who is an "active member". The scheduled scanner hobbyist meetings are usually on a Sunday late afternoon/ evening. I am not driving 2 hrs (one-way) for any meeting on a Sunday night, especially in the winter. And is everything here is supposed to revolve around "Twin City users"?

Sorry to vent here, but I felt it needed to be said. I have learned alot from this site, and I hope to continue learning. Someone was kind enough to post a ready-made ARMER file a few years back that I still use today (adjusted for my area).

Sadly "our" MN database is lacking. After the Op brought up the issue I looked at what other states/ counties had, as I have lived in other areas and am still interested in what goes on there. There are just as many Federal agencies here, as anywhere else. If anything, those who live in the TC metro will here them before I will.

OK, I am stepping down from the soapbox...

The wikis are editable by all of us. If it bothers you enough to comment in a state forum half a country away I suggest you go ahead and fix it since it clearly has not been enough of an issue for us who are actively monitoring here to do something about. But as mmstc said there isn't a lot of Fed activity here and what there is, a lot is on ARMER. As for borer patrol, that area is quite rural and most of the active members of the Minnesota forum are in the Twin Cities, which is 5+ hours away from the canadian border so I wouldn't count on that being filled in any time soon.

The reason I commented is that the federal information that exists for Minnesota is buried in several of the large number of counties in Minnesota and not in a separate link or pages as the Radio Reference written database policy states. More information, and quite a bit of it, is on Wiki pages. Whether there is a lot of federal activity in Minnesota or not, the point is to put what info there is in the place it should be. I have an interest in a database that is half a country away because I'm planning a road trip to visit family there.

As I write scanner files for this planned road trip to Minnesota and Wisconsin I'm able to download most of it from the database, except for the federal info in Minnesota. As a result I have to print out a lot of Wiki pages and do it by hand. The database was designed to eliminate or reduce the need to do this. I see no reason the design should be different in 2 of 50 states.

Federal stuff local to the county goes on the county page, so if I understand what you are saying, the listings are correct.

6.2. CONVENTIONAL DATA
6.2.1. AGENCY PAGES

“Agency”pages are the RR database name for sub-pages that are created either at the state or county level within
the RR database’s geographically organized hierarchical structure. Agency pages are of one of the following types:

• Federal – any federal frequencies (it is a common practice to create a “Federal” agency page in a county and to place the federal frequencies for that county on that agency page, particularly if there are more than a handful of federal frequencies used in the county).

"Active users" being those who post the most in the forums and contribute to the database and wiki of which I would consider you to belong. The majority of those people are from the cities.

Then I suggest that you make the changes to the Wiki so its as it should be and submit changes to the database. The wiki and database is a work in progress that belongs to all of us, and it is all of our responsibility to maintain it. If you see something wrong, fix it or submit the change.

Agreed.
