• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

.... After reading all your replies and some research I’ve decided on the President Bill ....

I googled the images of the interior of your car. Seems mounting this radio vertical in front of the center console would be the way I would go. It may cover up half a cup holder, but you still have another.

I see you don't have a parking brake lever so I can't suggest what I have done in the past. I have covered up the cupholders with a radio or remote head, get an extra coffee cup from the house, slide the handle of the coffee cup over the parking brake, and use it as a cupholder. It works well since 95% of the time I'm the only one in the vehicle.

I am looking to install a mobile cb in my 2016 Honda CRV. As with 99% of the newer cars , there is next to nothing as far as room goes. I’ve been looking for small compact units and so far the smallest I came across is the Radioddity CB27. My questions are :
Is this a decent radio ?
Is this the smallest radio on the market ?
Has anyone installed one in a newer CRV and can give any suggestions ?
Thanks , any help is appreciated.

I was looking at doing the same thing to our 2016 CR-V, when we had it, but wife traded it in for a MB GLC300, then traded that in for a 2021 CR-V. I'm looking at putting a Uniden CMX760 or similar in it. It's my wife's car, but I want the availability for when I drive it on our "road trips." Still not sure what antenna I'm going to run with.

Most vehicles have front seat center consoles. Mount radio on back of said console.

For the most part a radio is set and forget. Even if one adjusted controls as often as do I, it’s by feel.

I mounted an AM/SSB McKinley + 100W KL203 in my sons SUV with a “radio bag” (Walcott Radio), using straps around headrest plus Velcro. Hides underneath jacket hanger attached to headrest.

—Coax and power both meet at seat base (run under carpet; 8-AWG ANCOR to BUSSMANN Termination fuse; 12VDC via POWERWERX PDC-75). 13.3V all day long.

— External public service speaker under drivers seat firing into footwell (KES-5; almost waterproof).

— SIRIO 5000 antenna on PL145 mag mount. (Almost nothing better; permanent mount still to come).

Remove & store radio bag + antenna when not in use.

— Radios and other gear being considered in this thread won’t touch this rig per RX & TX (fact, not brag: be imaginative in solving problem IS the point; I knew WHAT was acceptable minimum, just had to figure out HOW to do it).

In my 2015 Silverado, mine were in my center console, at my fingertips. I'm looking at putting them inside the box of my center console on my 2018 Silverado, or replacing the upper forward portion of my center console and setting it up just like my 2015 was. Inside the box will definitely be set/forget.

A manual trans prevents me from the ease of install shown. And it shows WELL (nice work).
