Dispatch reads off a bunch of numbers after details of call is assigned to a unit at the end of the dispatch just before she states the time of call. Anyone know what these numbers mean ?

Some CACC's will provide the call number to the crew at the end of the call details.

They'll sometimes also provide a map grid reference in UTM MGRS for the call location.

More then likely it sounds something like:

Unit [number number number number]respond Code 4 to so and so street for tightness in the chest. your UTM is[blah blah blah] and GEO code. Seems to be hit and miss down here on the map page. Then they give the run/call number.

I've heard other dispatchers from the same CACC just give the priority, address, call type and that's it. Now if that's for a common address I dunno.

Not sure what the "rules" are these days if they need to give the Geo Code, UTM, map page or if that all pops up on the MDT's now?

Each region seems to have their own way of issuing the numbers. My personal opinion is that it depends on how active the TG are. The numbers issued are the call (run number) the geo code numbers (location of the call) and the priority of the call (code 1-4).

Thanks Gary123 for a simple explanation.

The official handbook still says ACO's must give out the run number (usually 8 digits, some still at 7), the UTM/Geo code (7 digits) and the time stamp. Some services are now using MDTs but the policies have not been updated to remove those redundant details.

Some ACOs put their own spin on it, and some CACCs have their preferred order of giving out the information (for instance, T-Bay likes to give the cross streets at the end, where most of the SWO CACCs give it with the address).
