I was wondering if anyone happened to hear anything on the Mohegan Sun radio system. I know that it is a MPT-1237 system and not sure whether or not scanners can pick up this particular radio system.

that's interesting that you worked part-time security there. So its not the greatest system, what made them go with MPT-1237, instead of say motorola or EDACS?

i was told they had a different system before i started there. i think someone told me it was motorola.
when we talked in the arena, the signal had to go to the tower outside, and then get bounced back.
one of the older guys told me the old system was much better in the arena. you have to be pretty
close to the casino to pick them up on your scanner.

Yeah I am actually going to Mohegan Sun next weekend. I'm surprised that they have no antennas inside. So its a Motorola system and not a MPT-1237. Do you know where I could find updated information about their radio system?

its a mpt system. not motorola. you could try here at radio reference for the frequencies. the fire dept
can also be picked up on 33.04?. if you going to the arena for a concert, they search you before you go in.
the old system was motorola, some one told me they had antennas running in the ceilings for the old
system i didnt like the new system. you had to hold the mike key and hear a funny sound before you
could transmit. have a nice time.

Unfortunately, there are no scanners on the market that can follow it, however, you can use software such as UniTrunker to follow it on your computer. It does not require a discriminator tap because they data had reliable decoding over normal audio jack. When CL&P/Northeast Utilities's system when they completely switch over to it (if that happens). Basically to do it you would need one scanner (can be as cheap as you want, as long as there is audio) to remain on control channel, then any computer control capable scanner supported by UniTrunker to follow the audio.

Just FYI, it is MPT-1327, not 1237, not a big deal, but there are other "MPT" protocols, just none that are popular trunking systems.

Yes I can hear Mohegan Sun on my scanners... And it's really boring lol..

Never any action mostly just " Officer so-and-so to dispatch" "Go for Officer so-and-so" "I'm taking my break" "I'm on the floor"

Most action you'll get is "EVS Supervisor Go here" which means some one probably crapped on their chair again. Lol

Any old scanner can pick it up. Doesn't have to be digital.

Over on Laurel Hill we can pick all Mohegan Sun communications with no antenna at all.

Well anyway this is the Freq range you want to be in..

That's just the FD. They are talking about the 900 MHz MPT system. Supposedly Winradio receivers with the trunking software package will to MPT-1327. If anyone has experience with the Winradio stuff, I would be interested to know how well it works. Their stuff is a little beyond my budget. Also, not a very portable setup.
