OK, all you techies...I use my Pro 96 to monitor ACARS, and I get some serious hash from the computer monitor. Any ideas, besides turning the monitor off ?
There are many types of sheilding you could try. But the simplest and fastest (read low cost) would be to move the scanner so it does not interfeer.
I used to keep mine in front of my monitor now I have it on top of my case (beside my monitor) and it does not giveme any interference. Move it to a new location.
Would seem like the best idea to me.

You need to figure out where the interference is coming from?
The monitor case, the video cable, the power cord?
You also need to figure out were it is getting into the scanner?
The antenna port, the power cable, the case, and extra wiring you have connected (audio or computer cables)?
if it's a CRT monitor, try moving the scanner to the opposite site of the monitor. Some older CRTs create alot of interference in one direction, but not in another. Of course, the further from the monitor you can move it, the better.
Most likley it's coming into scanner thru the antenna. Install an outside antenna using RG-6 coax with the best % shielding you can get. If that dosent do it then look for an LCD monitor.

I would sugest that rather than "Guess" where it is "Most Likely" comming into teh scanner, that a few simple tests will tell you exactly and then you can address the source.
Try a dummy load or even shorting the antenn port, Still there Yes/No?
I have the same problem with my monitor. I either turn it off, or lock out the freq that it's causing interferance from. It seems all of the freqs that have interference is only VHF-LOW for me.
The monitor interferes with my R-7100, which is connected to a discone with RG6, so that shoots that. Actually, I think it's going into the portable through the audio cable, so I think a coil might solve that problem.

My computer system puts out noise all over from LF through VHF
and my antennas are either in the same room or in the attic right above.
One thing you can try if your monitor & graphics card allow it is changing
the refresh rate. On my system this causes the noise to appear at
different frequencies. You can also try putting snap-on split ferrite beads
on evey cable coming out of the PC. That also reduced my noise a little.
