I saw this on the other board, and posted my speculation. It looks like a trunked system, but if it is listed as a (PW) I think that means conventional. Did anyone notice in the FCC thing if it is P25 or analog? A TRS for Monmouth county would be nice, and I hope I can hear it here in Toms River.

Not saying it isn't a good idea, but if it is for the Fire/EMS folks, "they" had better come up with some serious grant money. That will be a lot of brand new radios to purchase and have installed that most departments cannot afford to do on their own. Tough enough getting the municipalities to buy new conventional VHF mobiles/portables.

It was done in Ocean County and there were a ton of fire departments that had to make the switch from low band to the County Trunk System. It took some of them a long time, but they eventually all made the switch. EMS still hasn't gone over, except for Berkeley Twp., and I've heard that it's because the squads simply don't want to make the switch. Whether or not county makes it mandatory remains to be seen, and that would probably hold true for the Monmouth County departments and squads also.

Just as a side bar, I remember hearing or reading that Monmouth County was going to go to a 700 MHz trunk system when and if they ever did go to one.

After checking it versus the license (WQGU308), the list above is correct except it should be 507.4875 instead of 508.4875, and 508.1125 should be added for a total of eight channels. FYI 2,000 mobiles are licensed on the repeater inputs (+3 MHz) and it appears all frequencies are licensed for analog voice, digital voice, and digital data.

Here is the full list of repeaters on the license: 507.1875, 507.4875, 507.6875, 508.0000, 508.1125, 508.5625, 508.5875, 508.6250.

DSYCUTTER, what you were/are receiving on 508.4875 is Mercer County's control channel.

Apologies for the mix up with 508.4875/507.4875. I just copied the info from the East Coast Scanning post, which listed 508.4875 as the frequency, and didn't include 511.1125. I should have checked the FCC Database to confirm. My bad.

i am a senior operator at the county. we are supposed to be getting a new building and there is investigative work going on about a trunked system. i will keep you all updated. nothing mentioned yet about grant money for fire/ems etc radio upgrades but it is still too early to tell what is going to happen since the new building is also on the back burner since the county government can't afford it and have deemed the child sex crimes/child abuse building and the completion of the fire academy are more important!!!!

Any Updates?

Kevin, is there any update on the new system? I know how slow local government works. Monmouth County seems to be late in Jersey to upgrade, so I have been holding off upgrading several scanners to see what they will do.
Any ideas, analog, digital, rebanded freqs, encrypted, etc. Any info will be appreciated toward future buying decisions.........Thanks, NESN

monmouth county sheriffs communications/police radio

there is no word on a new building although apparantly 911 is not important to the politicians. there is a waiting list of agencies that want to be dispatched thru the county system but nothing can be done until any kind of expansion. apparantly there was recent talk of renting another building in the area or something but i think that fell thru. as for the trunked system, that is still being looked into but have not spoken to the chief on that recently. our old building on dutch lane road is being ripped down so any equipment in the building is being moved into a smaller "box" or building so he and the radio techs are involved in removing and moving all of the equipment. sorry no news!! kevin o'brien
