Hello y'all,

I imported the Montco frequencies from Radioreference.com into Win96 and then into my Pro96. Everything seems to be working fine, except that I can't figure out what is what! Sometimes the name of the township will come up in the scanner (Abington, Whitpain, for example) other times it will just say NORTHEAST or SOUTHEAST and then I'm not sure which township I'm listening to.

Any explanations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Many of the municipal police departments on the Montco system are self dispatched and have their own talkgroup, others that are dispatched by the county are grouped in zones such as southeast which covers the towns of Jenkintown, Rockledge, etc. Towns in the western part of the county are on northwest or southwest. Also not long ago they split the county in half so two sets of control freqs are needed.

For more detail check out the yahoo group called philly scanner, there is also a very useful guide available as a subscription through that group.

Thanks!

Ok, well that would explain it! Thanks very much. The thing I'm trying to figure out is why in Win96 I can't see ANY of the text for individual police departments. I can see it on the scanner when it stops on that frequency (Abington PD, for example) but in WIn96 I can't find the word Abington anywhere.

Thanks again.

Andrew

In WIN96, the talkgroup names appear in a list on the lower right side of the screen.

For reference as to what departments are on the county dispatch channels, you can check the Montco 911 site directly. They share the info. http://www.montcopa.org/eoc/EDS/Default.htm
Click on the "Scanner Info" link on the left side menu.

But!

Hello, thanks. I can see the names on the right side of the screen on WIN96, but nothing there says Abington or Upper Dublin yet both those names come up on the scanner itself! There is clearly some text in the scanner on for that bank that I cannot find in Win96. Strange.

Thanks.

Andrew, did you program the talk groups in or are you using the scanner in open mode?

If using open, it will hear everything that happens on the system, with it in closed mode it will only receive the TG's you enter.

Is there a specific area of the county you want to monitor?

I uploaded the data for Montgomery County into my scanner directly from radioreference.com. I'm using it in closed mode, and what I want to hear is the police depts. in Montco, which I am hearing just fine! BUT... I just don't know why when I look at that data in Win96 I can't see any of the text that I can actually see on the scanner!!

In other words, the scanner will stop on a signal and it will say, for example, Abington PD, but when I look in Win96 I can't see any text anywhere that says Abington PD.

I want to edit the text for the different departments in Win96 but I can't find that text anywhere.

Thanks,

Andrew

Did you toggle through all the name banks in the talkgroup list? There are several radio buttons to the left of the talkgroup list. The talkgroups are broken into four groups of 30 talkgroups each.

Hmmmmmmmm. No, I don't think I did. Is this in Win96?

Thanks,

Yes, in win96 you have various options about what talk groups are received. You can enter the TG's manually or let the radio do it.

Well, thanks for the help, but I have no idea what you're talking about!

Montco CSV Import File

Hi all . . .
I'am interested in importing a .csv file for Montco into my Win96 program. Is there an existing .csv file available for Montco. I'am presently using the V-Scanner #5 file for Pa-Del-Bal . I want to hear Upper Dublin & all other local TG's. Being a new PRO-2096 user, it seems like the import mode using the .csv file to Win96 would be the best way to capture Montco then upload to my PRO-2096.

Any help on this would be welcomed

PM me with your email address and I will send you a P96 file for Montco.

One correction...the talkgroups are listed in *five* groups of 30, not four. The radio buttons 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 are for the groups of talkgroups in a bank.

Yes, I am talking about the screen display you see in Win96. For each channel bank, there will be an area on the lower right side of the screen showing the talkgroup lists that may or may not be programmed for a particular bank. The talkgroup list for a particular bank is broken up into four sublists of 30 talkgroups each. This is done so you can try to do some organizing of talkgroups. You can turn each grouping of 30 on and off indepentently of the rest of the talkgroups.

So, I can have all the fire, all the police, all the ems, and then all the misc talkgroups programmed and then have active only one of those four groups. This feature may or may not be useful depending on how you want to organize talkgroups and how many talkgroups the system has.

Montco p96 File

Thanks scanjunkie . . . .

Thankyou for the Montco p96 file. I was receiving some sporadiac activity on the Montco East & Montco West talkgroups also on the conventional CT mode groups.
When using the V-scanner #5 p96 file I receive constant activity on the Delaware TRS bank 0 for Montco local incidents in the open mode. I was surprized i would get all this acitivity for my local area from a Delaware TRS. I pickup Phila TRS also but not as frequently as the Delaware TRS.
I'll use the Montco p96 to add frequencies & talkgroups to experiment to see what results occur.

Thanks again . . .
Buddy

Well this sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, except on my Win96 screen I see a list of 29 talkgroups on the lower right corner and that's it! Obviously there are more talkgroups because I hear them on the scanner, but I can't see them in Win96. It could be because I'm using the trial version of Win96, but I don't think so.

Thanks again, we're getting closer!

To the left of the 30 TG's you see are some circles and check boxes. If you click in the circle it will take you to another scan list...the check box turns the list on and off. So, like Ben said, there are five lists of 30 TG's each...
