They should just simulcast the whole system. That's what Santa Clara County Fire and EMS do.

The system is simulcast but in reverse with each site with a different output frequency and DPL and the two input frequencies with voting receiver selecting the best signal. but yeah the way he explain it in the video was really bad

Thanks for the explanation, ScannerDude244. Yeah, the video was really confusing.

That's called a multi-cast Same input for several different outputs. You can do it with a voted single input/tone, or you can do a voting-scan on the subscriber side that scans up to 10 of the frequencies, determines which has the best signal, and transmits on that repeater pair.

Thats why I love RR I learn something new all the time here!

Thanks trumpetman

Yellow and blue tone are still used their is now 3 Yellows tones now south county yellow, big sur yellow, and now channel 2 yellow that has a little overlay that's use on the coast were the Big sur yellow doesn't get great coverage. I know they are still installing the new radios for the rest of the city and county departments. I don't know what's taking so long for the SO overlay and p25 VHF, 700mhz systems. PS I'm not liking this overlay system the audio sucks and seems like the voting system is a little slow compare to the old conventional system.

I agree. Its sucks! Coverage is horrible in the south part of the county an when I was in Monterey, I had to switch channels from one block to the next. I'm still trying to wrap my head around why the are multicasting and not simulcasting. I get having to re license can be an issue but with the amount of vhf frequencies that they have, you'd think they could get one changed to go on all the high-level sites.

Me thinks some Sears Slicker Suit Salesman found a sucker in county comm or at the county fire agency and sold them a BS bill of good that sounds great on paper, but will not be so easy (if it even is able to be) to implement.

Why do I say this? - No one (county) else is doing anything like this and their simple systems work great. No fore thought, not relearning stuff, just add the new tacs and commands and go.
