Anyone living in the Montgomery County area: is 156.1650 used for paging at all now? Or has it been transitioned to UHF frequencies only?

When I am driving through this area, I have this programmed in the scanner. I hear quite a bit of traffic but do not seem to hear much on that frequency. I guess if you have a extra slot, monitor it to see what happens.

I think VHF is deprecated. I've only heard paging on UHF unless I'm missing something.

VHF 156.165 is still a multi-cast of Fire Rescue 1 on 453.3125. @mocofeed where are you monitoring from?

Yes. Anything that comes across Fire Rescue 1 (UHF 453.3125) is also heard on VHF 156.165.

As an update, I receive 156.165 here and there, but not consistently. Does VHF seem to work in certain parts of the county? UHF Fire/Rescue 1 is excellent here.

I'm curious how fire and EMS pagers are configured here as well.

156.165 transmits from a single site in the SE part of the county. Reception could be spotty around Blacksburg.

That explains it. UHF coverage is excellent basically everywhere I've been. I will probably take VHF out altogether.

That would be logical. It is literally a multi-cast of the UHF. You won't miss anything. (y)

Do you monitor Montgomery regularly? I heard an "Event" channel mentioned that I don't see in the database.

I believe it was a rescue member telling another member to switch to "Event 9."
