Mores Code sound while putting frequency on hold

When I select a frequency and place it on hold, I get a beeping sound, that sounds like morse code. Does anyone know why this happens?

Do you have an "Alert Tone" set for that channel? On my BR330T and BCD396T there are several "tones" to choose from, some of which sound a little like morse code.

In a nutshell that's the stations call letters in morse code. I believe it's an FCC requirement that it be broadcast once an hour unless the call letters are regularly called over the air (as in an FM radio station). Around here the tones are broadcast without using a PL/DPL of any sort, so subscriber radios don't typically hear the them. Hope that makes sense!
