Hello. I have one question I am hoping anyone on here can answer for me.

I am just wondering if anyone on here would happen to have sound file or something of what MOTO TRBO sounds like. Because there is 3 frequencies from Timmins that I heard what sounds like a buzzing sound or something like that for a few seconds on one frequency then it does it on the 2nd freq then the 3rd and then back over again.

I think it might be MOTO TRBO but not 100% sure.

So if anyone would have a sound file of MOTO TRBO I can have to listen to, to see if it sounds the same like what I am hearing, then I will know that is what I am hearing on those 3 frequencies.

So I will be waiting for any replies to this post.

Thanks.

yes, Timmins Police is readying to go fully digital and encrypted soon. The new equipment is being installed this week so they should be switching over real soon :-( They will also have on-board computers installed in the cruisers so they can do their own 10-28's and 10-29''s.

Can someone refresh my memory : is TRBO system (not enc) monitorable by a (digital) scanner?

It is monitorable by another Trbo radio, but that's a fairly drawn-out process. You need to know the frequency, the time slot (there are two to pick from, unless it is simplex then there's only one), plus the colour code (basically the TRBO version of a PL/DPL/NAC) and of course, if they're using either basic or enhanced privacy (encryption), you're SOL.

Assuming they're not using any encryption (which would be foolish, considering it comes as a standard feature), you would be okay to monitor it, however there is no option for "Digital CSQ" like there is on an Astro portable. This means you would need to know the colour code...and I believe there are 127 of them. I haven't played with TRBO aside from reading some material about it, so I might be wrong. But, others have tried and determined it to be either too much of a PITA, or they've hit roadblocks.

Actually there are only 16 colour codes, the (additional) problem is that you also need to know the Group code that is being used. And there are only about 16.775 million of those to sift thru. So without being able to query a real radio for the group codes, or until a UniTrunker/Trunk88 type application comes along that will display the group codes.... Well you get the picture.

Ah yea, it was the group code thing I was thinking of.

Some small systems use "ALL CALL" which means listening isn't a problem at all...in theory you could setup two scan groups...with all 16 colour codes with Time Slot 1, then another scan list with all 16 colour codes with Time Slot 2...assuming they use all call that is.

If they don't...best of luck.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8530/5.0.0.654 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/398)

Is it confirmed as MOTOtrbo?

It would be realnice if a program like DSD or unitrunk could look at the data packets and decode the color and group info. I use DSD to decode P25 conventional info and Unitrunk for trunking info.

I believe Kawarth Lakes uses ALL CALL and can be monitored with the aformentioned method... i think DSD can do it too.

To answer your question...YES those 3 frequencies are MotoTRBO. Also, 3 more stations have been turned on earlier this week.
