• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My county programmed 800Mhz radio is set to 7.8...I believe that 5.6 may lower receiver sensitivity slightly, and should only be considered if you are having interference issues with very close adjoining frequencies...in other words, 5.6 is a "fix" for a "problem", that if you are not experiencing, should not be necessary.

Similarly, unless I am mistaken, the 800MHz spectrum is still using 25Khz bandwidth for analog, even though a mixed mode system would be using 12.5 when spitting out P25. All P25 is 12.5, so setting the system to 25 would not alter that.

Thanks 7.8 sounds better on analog 5.6 sounds More flat they sound over modulation a bit at 12.5khz bandwidth 25khz bandwith sounded more full but now with p25 the 12.5 bandwidth sounds better. The 25bandwidth they sounded way to lound like they was eating the mic the 5.6 filter they sounded more nasel so 7.8 works better for p25 even tho mix mode system they will soon first of year going p25 for everyone

Quick question. Do you mean a 3600 baud digitial system? Phase 1 and 2 P25 are 9600 baud and the XTS3000 is not capable of that.
It is capable of 3600 baud which was the first version of digital.
Im also not aware of any Phase 1 system being analog compatible.
However 3600 baud digitial systems were backwards compatible with analog 800 stuff.

The xts3000 is capable of p25 trunking with very specific firmware and flashcode on the 800Mhz band.

Nice.. I knew there was an odd version out there that allowed it.
Guess i also learned something new, never seen a P25 Phase 1 9600 system with analog on it.

and that's something you'll never see.

The OP's post is quite confusing.

Yes, an XTS3000 will do 800Mhz P25 trunking with the right flashcode and firmware.

No, there's no such animal as a P25 trunking system with analog.

Until he responds and clears this up, his initial post is very confusing.

Well thats what i was originally thinking in post #4.

There was a local system that was Type 2 trunking with analog and digital talk groups, but it was 3600 baud, not true p25 9600. Phase 1 or 2. Glad to see im not loosing it.

For future reference equalizer, "P25 Phase I" wording is reserved for 9600 baud FDMA (non TDMA) digital only trunking systems. ;-)
