Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi, I saw this video of someone monitoring Capacity Max on an XPR. I'm not sure if it is fake, so I started researching it. I found this thread about monitoring Capacity Plus, even though you don't need an authenticated radio. Would this work for Capacity Max? Or do you know any way to "non-affiliate scan" for DMR Tier III?

When I click on that TikTok link all I see is a still photo, not a video, and the radio appears to be parked on a conventional channel with scan mode enabled from the looks of the display. It may be possible to simply program all of the system frequencies/timeslots with a group list containing the talkgroups you want to hear, and scan those channels in conventional mode.

Cap+ is easy to monitor because there is no concept of the radio authenticating/affiliating with the system and there are no system keys in the software. So, if the system isn't using RAS and/or encryption, anyone can program a radio to passively monitor. I disable transmit on each channel, and for good measure usually program some bogus TX frequencies so the radio would never be able to reach the system. I monitor lots of Cap+ systems this way.

Thank you. Would I add a conventional channel and scan a regularly programmed Capacity Max system, with each channel after the conventional channel being a talkgroup? Also, you would stay on the conventional one like regular NAS right?

The guy was monitoring a conventional DMR channel. But he is a user of a system which the company or place seems to not lock their radios and he adds other groups to it who use the same system as the one he is authorized to use uses Ras on that end so probably why the gloating.
