• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello, I have a fellow ham's DM2600 on the bench. Radio can't be readed, CPS doesn't recognize it. It gives the device descriptor request failed (43). I tried with his homemade cable and also with two of mines ( homemade and OEM). He states that he had problems with the ignition sense turned on so he gave a direct 12v to the wrong pins ( between 13 and 16), after that he felt the smell of smoke and now radio can't be readed. What can it be?I have a guy telling me that I also need to run + to some other pin to get radio in the programming mode. Now I have it connected to pin 10 and it only turns on.

The radio has no "programming mode"
Does it even power?

Do you know which pin was put power to specifically? Pin 14 is a programming pin, which would be less than ideal to put 12v to that

OK so it's either a problem with the port on the front or your programming cable
I tried with 3 programming cables and nothing. They work fine on others. It's probably the front port but what can the issue be? Could I maybe program it with the back port programming cable?

I re-read your post and edited my response. If he put 12v to pin 14 (between 12 and 16) it could have damaged or destroyed the programming capability of radio. Try a rear cable but I wouldn't hold my breath

Hello, I have a fellow ham's DM2600 on the bench.
TBH, it's not on my bench. If you have it apart you can go looking. If you have a thermal camera you can look for hotspots with power applied carefully, or you can look at components with a magnifying glass and try to see skidmarks, etc... A schematic would help, as well.

Hard to do remotely.

Will do that. I will keep you updated. Thanks a lot!
