• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have an HT1250 on the way. I want to compare them side by side. If the 338 had all the features as the 1250, it would b a decent radio. If only i can find out how the cps on the 380 was easier to understand...

Although, i doubt the 338 has mdc1200. And if it did, its probably a pain to pgm it... Im having a hard time getting the QCII to work on this 380 as it dosent have very many options as far as decoding it.

1-yes, IMPRES charges will charge ALL chemistry types (Lion, NiMH and NiCD), but will only condition IMPRES enabled batteries.

2)-Yes, the non-IMPRES OEM Pro series charger HTN9000x is a tri-chemistry charger.

Check in fleabay, I know they are out there. You just need a standard 10hr charger. Many people get them with radios they buy and go for the rapid rate chargers because they charge quicker. If there arent any on Fleabay check out some other radio supply websites. I would imagine you can find one for a fairly decent price.

i was woundering if ya could change the 5 tone sig. to two tone on a gp 380

ive been trying to get QC2 to work on the 338, with no luck of course... I dont think 2tone is supported on these radios. Ive asked the same exact question and got a negative... So i just stopped trying altogether.

Is the HT1250 water resistant and to what degree? I use mine for firefighting and im afraid to get it wet from a hose or rain (sometimes hoses do get away from people) I do have a mic for it and i keep the radio in my pocket, but to change the channel, have to dig around for it.. This sounds stupid but i dont want this to b a hi dollar doorstopper.
