To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

$300 WHOA man.. are you serious..
im not sure if you have priced them or not but i can get a used working one for 15-50 on ebay all day long. LOL with accessories for 75-100.
Thanks for the offer, i think..
Oh and im in Dallas.. For that price your going to have to find someone local with no programming ability and who doesnt know much about them..
The good news is, they should be narrow band compliant..

Yes, they're NB compliant. Yeah, if you can get someone to buy that for $300, more power to you, but that's way high! Look on eBay for a good idea of the going rate.

not all MT2000's are fully narrowband compliant. Radios made before April 1998 with a F/W lower than 2.11 will not do splinter channels. All MT2000's will do narrow band (2.5KHz deviation), only later production units will work on splinter frequency assignment (e.g. 154.8225MHz).

Average price on brokenstolenradios.com aka Ebay for a newer MT2000 A7 is around $125-150 depending on the seller, condition and accessories. $300 can buy a much newer radio such as a Kenwood TK-2180 on the used market, and for not much more you can buy entry level DMR radios from Hytera.

I should have clarified myself (thought I did but I guess that was on another forum!) but you're absolutely correct, thanks.

mts2000des is correct. Any radio that in the specs say that it is narrow band compliant, just means that whatever frequency is allowed to be put in will be able to be set for narrow band @12.5 kz with the audio at 2.5 kz.

This does not mean it is SPLITTER compliant.

How ever, any radio made within the last 10 to 12 yeas will be able to due both.

Just FYI, stay away from the hytra/HYT and blackbox radios if you wish to maintane them yourself.

These radios can only be serviced by the manifacture and they will not sell or give you the software to do any thing to them.

Blackbox may allow you to get software for there radios, but the only thing that software can do is insert frequency.

I know, I have them fighting with them over this for 8 months.

Those high asking prices are just that. Asking prices. Nobody actually pays that. I have accumulated UHF MTS2000 top display radios & never paid more than $100. That one was brand new. The used ones went for $50-$70, with the cheapest going for $28. And the MTS radio is worth more than the MT radio, as the firmware & flashcodes can be upgraded. I picked up a UHF MTS2000 with full keypad in mint original [not recased] shape from a poster on this thread for $140. So I wish you good luck in your quest to try & get $300 for your radios. This a free country, & you can ask what you want, but after several months of no one wanting to pay $300, you may get the picture. But, good luck!

400 for an MT-2000?!? For a NIB MTS-2000 I would not pay $200 for, never mind a used MT-2000. I just bought a MTS-2000 mod 1 with charger, battery and speaker mic for US$150 shipped to Canada. The MTS-2000 are going to fetch a hight price than a MT-2000... Good luck to you.

Sorry, but model 3 MTS radios in nice shape are going for $125-$150 these days. Sure, there might be some ads on E-bay with people asking $300, but month after month they remain unsold, when similar radios have buy it now for $140. And the XTS3000's model 1 radios selling for $150 are flashed for Imbe [digital] which the MTS radios can't do. Wake up. It's almost 2013.

Regardless, mod 1 or mod 3, a MT2000 is NOT worth 300 bucks.

MTS2000 mod1 have a top display.

Jedi radios have been out of production for a while now and as such their value has dropped considerably

Even JT1000s have come down considerably in value and they use to be the most coveted Jedis, it seems.
