If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

MotoTRBO OTAP using RM and Control Station: problem with DDMS?

Hello!
I'm trying to complete test setup for OTAP of Motorola R7/R7a radios via Control Station.
I have R7 radio as Control Station, it's Radio ID is configured as ARS Radio ID in other radios in network. On the server I have DDMS installed. ARS seems to be working, on the server I'm able to see ARS packets coming from remote radio and ARS acknoledges coming from DDMS. I'm able to ping remote radio. The problem is that Device Programmer does not see remote radios. It looks like DP just does not consult DDMS and does not get active radio list from it.
Software versions are:
RM - 2.151.192
DDMS - 24.01.0005
Did someone experience the similar problem? Please advice. Thank you!

In Device Monitor / Programmer. Did you go to the Setting Tab and configure the Presence Manager / DDMS and then Click the Test Connection Button.

Dear Firebuff880,
thank you for reply.
Yes, of course I've tested the connection and test has passed.

As far as I understand Device Programmer does not grab/poll all active radios from DDMS. I had to add radios to RM manually by their serial numbers, only after that DP consults DDMS if certain radio is active and it can be accessed remotely. Does that look reasonable?

The second issue in my lab was the wrong setting on the Control Station. In CPS General->Network->Radio Network section there is "Protected Mode Control Station" checkbox. It has a lack of documentation. It must be _unticked_ on Control Station, otherwise DP cannot access remote radio over the air via Control Station despite of there is IP connectivity.

I believe you are correct; the Auto Entry / Register process of RM, when enabled, may only work with a USB or WiFi connection. But I would have to go back to the manual to confirm that part, as I NEVER use it. Rather, I import a CSV of new Radio received into the Radio Management Server.
