MSWIN HELP with BCD436HP

I just got the BCD436HP today and I have not had a scanner in 25 years. I updated the unit with the latest database and firmware from radio reference I assume. It has been scanning for over an hour and I have yet to hear anything but 1 transmission and it was EMS in another county.

can someone tell me how I can listen to my local police and sheriff department and possibly the surrounding counties police and sheriffs department? I am getting really frustrated because I can figure out for the life of me why I cannot hear my local police and sheriff. I know they are talking because I have a friend who is a cop and he says someone is talking on the police frequency all the time. I’m told they use the MSWIN network.

I am in Greenwood Mississippi Leflore county.

I am about 3 seconds from sending this back to Amazon and just saying forget it.

While not the most advanced radio on the market right now, the 436HP is very complex and not like anything you have used before. The good news is Leflore is in the clear so I suspect its a programming/scanning issue which can be fixed.

Give both of those a read and report back. If you can, take a picture (dosn't have to be high res) of the 436HP screen when "you think you are monitoring MSWIN" and we'll start there.

Well I don’t have a scanner but have a RTL SDR and I can listen to Greenwood right now. I am located in Indianola in Sunflower County and also a firefighter

Check this out. I have added a favorites list and uploaded to scanner but when I turn the full database to OFF and turn my favorites list to ON. On the main screen it just tells me “scan mode, nothing to scan”

I don’t get it….. I’m attaching an image see if you can figure out what I’m doing wrong please

Check your services, make sure all public safety options are ON

I don’t see public safety but I have the three law enforcement set to ON. Is there any way you could build the file and export it ? I wonder if I could import then Send to scanner.

im creating a favorites list and adding Leflore county and seeing the TGID’s. I set monitor and download to ON. I’m sending to scanner but after upload to scanner I’m getting that same error. “Nothing to scan”

this is so frustrating. I tried uniden tech support but the guy I spoke to was useless.
I should just post my phone number and have someone walk me through this. Geezzzzz

May seem dumb but, whatever QL preset you set the system to..... hit it and see if it scans. Also, take a pic of the scanner itself.

I have added all the sites for MSWIN and Leflore county. It has been scanning all those frequencies all night and not a single broadcast has been heard by my scanner. I know the scanner works because I’ve heard an EMS call and Entergy MS when I did zip code programming

Oh, I don’t know what to say because I don’t have a scanner, but I am getting me one this summer. But I have a rtlsdr/dsdplus scanner on pc. But Greenwood is on Mogan City, and DPS Bolivar.

Try opening the squelch to see if you can receive the site. If you attach your favorites list file, I will check it for problems. Using Sentinel, highlight the favorites list, click on the File tab, and Export to hpe file (Favorites List). You will need to right click on the exported file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder.

What type of scanner do you have?

Don't give up. This new type of scanner frustrated all of us when it first came out in 2014. I felt the same way. When you get over the learning curve, you will love this scanner. There are a lot of very knowledgeable members on this site who will help you. Maybe you can meet up with someone from your area who can help you get things started. When you get frustrated, just take a break, free your mind and jump back into it.

The first thing I noticed is that you are scanning every site in the state. You will be lucky to hear anything while scanning all of the out of range sites. Avoid all of the sites except Morgan City in Leflore County and Carrollton and North Carrollton in Carroll County. so that you are scanning only those three sites. It appears that you may get the best signal on the North Carrollton site.

Avoid all of the sites except Morgan City in Leflore County and Carrollton and North Carrollton in Carroll County. so that you are scanning only those three sites. It appears that you may get the best signal on the North Carrollton site.

He can only scan MORGAN CITY, BOYE, GRACE, DPS BOLIVAR, MDOT BOLIVAR, MDOC PARCHMAN, Carrollton, North Carrollton, and GREENVILLE sites.

I have this program and have used it on a SDS200. I am still learning and would like to open it and look but I have tried and I am not successful. How can I open this in BCDX36HP? Please advise.
