• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

See if you can "piggy back" on some of the DMR repeaters that the drug cartels have set up in Mexico.

For the right price, they'll let you do anything. Apparently they got wise on all the race traffic crossing the border after the races and built themselves a few race trophy trucks packed full of drugs and tried to slip them across the border on everyone's way out. Needless to say, the racers are getting hammered pretty hard lately at the military check points all up and down the peninsula. Sucks getting out of the vehicle right after you've just fallen asleep in 40 degree weather and standing there freezing for 15 minutes. Arrrrghh Damn El Chopo..

The racing organizations I've worked with had a frequency coordinator for the series, usually Racing Radios or Racing Electronics. I started coordination for the teams at the Indy 500 back in the late 80s.
The first year the teams were required to list freqs the form had a line that said "person responsible for radios".
Almost every one came back with my name on it since I was the only tech working the series. The next year the form said "team member responsible for radios".

Coordinating with Canada and Australia was challenging because we were crystal based back then, no easy way to change. Even after car to pit radios were programmable the early telemetry radios were still xtal based Motorola Rnets. I had to fax freqs to Australia the first year or 2 because they didn't have email yet, I was 73267.721 at Compuserve in the good old days.

Years ago I used to go to several NHRA drag races. The NHRA had about 6 UHF freq's they were licensed to use. Typical 464.5, 464.55 etc simplex freq's. There was one race a year at Sanair, near Montreal Canada. They did not apply to the Canadian Gov't for permits to use their freq's once a year at that race. LOL.[/QUpOTE]

If they are not licensed in Canada or have permission from Canadian government to use these frequencys in Canada then they ALL could end up in the Canadian JAIL for a long time

Yeah right. The race was 2 days in the middle of nowhere using 5 watt HT's. The nearest metropolitan city, Montreal was about 40 miles away. I'm sure Industry Canada was right on their case, but yet it's legal to smoke leafy green plants there. Oh, NHRA quit going there . Something about Nitromethane racing fuel being illegal in Canada now.

Metoropolitan, but other towns and counties. MURS still have not been legalized in Canada. If they did do this, it was illegal and still is.
